Glastonbury 2019

Babylon Uprising is actually in... well, Babylon. I've stumbled across it a few times, but it's only now I'm realising it's an actual programmed venue.
Anyway, here's their line-up, in video form:

The Wormhole (new venue in Park) looks like it could have some cracking sessions. Lots of Bristol spinners, plus - Ezra Collective VS Sons of Kemet , and a proper Old School Jungle Rinseout to wrap things up .

Block 9's post-Glasto plans look bloody interesting. They are gonna tour the venue (like Arcadia did I suppose) and do some storytelling:
The debut at Glastonbury this summer is only the first part of Block9’s plan. The second element is a peripatetic arts space where Block9 will – with live music and specially commissioned pieces – tell “musical stories”, such as the evolution of Iranian music after the 1979 revolution, the Ethiopian royal families’ embrace of an Armenian brass band, and how Viktor Ullmann wrote his opera The Emperor of Atlantis while in the Nazi concentration camp Theresienstadt.

“All of these things are massively empowering,” said Berger. “You’re not going to leave depressed. You’ll leave inspired. We’re saying: yes, things are pretty messed up now, but look at what we as a species have come through.

Gallagher said: “It’ll be part-gig, part-club. It’s a music venue, which is like being inside an artwork. Nothing is what it seems.”

I'll be interested in this if it's well programmed. I like (more than stereo) setups and immersive stuff:
Be the first to witness the birth of IICON – a brand new, immersive 3D surround sound arena in Block9 East. Taking the form of a colossal, anonymised head, IICON is a pseudo-religious monument to the terrifying new realities emerging in our digital, post-truth age. This immense sculptural artwork and stage boasts a 6-point ambisonic sound system and is animated by state-of-the-art video mapping.

Unfairground have just been announcing stuff :

I've also been told this w/e that the full line-up, as in all areas, and most day and time breakdowns, will be announced soon -- as in early June (earlier than usual??). Not sure how completely true this is :hmm: -- I'm sceptical .....

But if you think you'll be bored on site, it could soon become so that you won't! :D :p

I'm excited to see The Comet Is Coming, which is Shabaka Hutchings' (Sons of Kemet) other band. They do atmospheric and lush futuristic jazz, and he's the most hearty sax player I've heard since the late great Saxa!

Defo on my list. Though, no doubt, they'll clash with loads of other stuff!

Then I can spend hours carefully poring over Clashfinder, incorporating my 'travel times between stages at varying times if the day' matrix. Only for it to all go to ratshit when I get hammered and start meeting mates. Just like every year.

I thought the more recent Rapture was a bite trite when I first heard it, but it's a grower and now firmly in playlists.
A lot of her stuff is more conscious-vibes oriented, but I think every reggae act can put out a straight-up boast track every now and then . I've been digging it.

Shedloads about Block 9 here :) -- various information and posters about Block 9 itself, NYC Downlow, etc. etc.

It looks very much like thay have a different and larger field in the SE Corner -- they certainly have more areas and acts :)

ETA : Not a "different" field -- see next post below. An extra one alongside the field they had before ... :)

And I've just rechecked the 2019 map that alsoknownas posted on page 6 of this thread -- and yes, Block 9 have definitely expanded in the SE ... I'm just now remembering that Glasto Latino are also moving (to near West Holts -- see earlier links), so that accounts for how B;lock 9 can now take over a much bigger chuck of the SE Cormer world .....
