I saw Dolly Parton at the O2 last night. She was absolutely amazing, but the little chat bits between songs were exactly the same, word for word
I saw her down here in Feb and they were the same then, great tales and plenty of bagging her husband. The thing that struck me when I saw her was her appeal to many very different audiences: old and young, gay and straight, hipster and redneck. I was sitting next to some farmers that had travelled quite a way into town to see her.
I'd have liked to have been there this year to see Metallica, they headlined the first fest I ever went to in 1995 and I've a soft spot for them. I'm not sure I want to go to another muddy Glastonbury though, I've done that too many times.
I enjoyed Metallica on Saturday night. Cant believe the BEEB did not show the film at the opening of their set; too controversial?
Someone who has not been mentioned yet is dear old Robert Plant. Im a bit of a mettaler at heart, but have to say I really enjoyed his set. I look forward to catching his new bands tour. Thought the hairy accoustic guitarist was sublime.
the film was about hunting bears or foxes or something. i think in favour of hunting. maybe.
Party pooperas for dolly. i really fail to see why anyone would voluntarily hand over cash to watch that. i can understand at a festival - you can be elsewhere while she's on but god knows why you'd pay to see it in a dedicated concert. i lasted a couple of songs with a look of horror on my face before having to turn it over.
I hate both country music and plastic surgery.

She even said "it costs a lot of money to look this cheap"
That's what performers do.I saw Dolly Parton at the O2 last night. She was absolutely amazing, but the little chat bits between songs were exactly the same, word for word
She mimed a bit.
It's funny what sticks in your mind, though. If you asked me what Radiohead played I'd probably give you a reasonably accurate response. Tanky's wedding though? Eh?
Although I do now have a dim recollection of being at the Stone Circle, with wiskey. But I think that's only because when I got home I found a photo of myself on my camera, totally asleep in front of one of the stones, and wondered how on Earth I'd managed a selfie while in a coma.
that sums it up rather well. The change from portaloos with a roof and private smell to the pubic stench of open air longdrops led to far fewer sludgegulpers trundling around, so overall was probably a good thing. I didn't much like the reduction in festoon lights and all the new bright, bright floodlights though. Walking down past Acoustic was painful with 4 floods pointing straight at you. Apart from that it was all a bit predictable. Next year needs something exciting.Great time. Felt quite 'business as usual' rather than laden with new gimmicks/features and changes (Arcadia move (much needed) and removal of portaloos are pretty much the biggest things I can think of??) and the lineup (IMO) had the smell of a business that went over-budget on last years megastar headliners and had to retreat from there.
Turns out those bloody car park stickers are an mot failure. The garage have scraped the remains of 3 off with a razor.
Yes, I had that problem years ago. What glue they use I have no idea. Warm soapy water and a bit of elbow grease works best I found.
Other notes...DJ EZ at Arcadia - ridiculous.
it supports greenpeace, wateraid and oxfam, recycles everything pretty much, has a big solar array on the farm etc.
it's not perfect, but I'd say it's by far the best of any large festival in the UK in that respect.
