I saw Dolly Parton at the O2 last night. She was absolutely amazing, but the little chat bits between songs were exactly the same, word for word :D

I saw her down here in Feb and they were the same then, great tales and plenty of bagging her husband. The thing that struck me when I saw her was her appeal to many very different audiences: old and young, gay and straight, hipster and redneck. I was sitting next to some farmers that had travelled quite a way into town to see her.

I'd have liked to have been there this year to see Metallica, they headlined the first fest I ever went to in 1995 and I've a soft spot for them. I'm not sure I want to go to another muddy Glastonbury though, I've done that too many times.

I enjoyed Metallica on Saturday night. Cant believe the BEEB did not show the film at the opening of their set; too controversial?

Someone who has not been mentioned yet is dear old Robert Plant. Im a bit of a mettaler at heart, but have to say I really enjoyed his set. I look forward to catching his new bands tour. Thought the hairy accoustic guitarist was sublime.

Yeah I was really quite astounded at the range of appeal there was at the o2, lots of familes with grown up kids, but then you could tell there were lots of line dancing types, interspersed with old rockers and in motorhead and iron maiden t-shirts, and even the odd biker in a cut too.

What was the film of? It may well be a copyright issue, problem with re-broadcasting something thats specifically been made for them iyswim.

I saw robert plant and alison Krauss quite a long time ago at glasto, I wasn't that impressed which I was frustrated about as I was heavily into led zeppelin growing up (influenced by my uncle, who still thinks robert plant is the best thing since sliced bread).

the film was about hunting bears or foxes or something. i think in favour of hunting. maybe.

as for dolly. i really fail to see why anyone would voluntarily hand over cash to watch that. i can understand at a festival - you can be elsewhere while she's on but god knows why you'd pay to see it in a dedicated concert. i lasted a couple of songs with a look of horror on my face before having to turn it over.

Party pooper

She actually did some really good songs when I saw here, don't think twice its alright by dylan was one I'll remember, she did a medley of shit that people want, and then the rest of the stuff was proper

Saw Robert Plant and his great band, The Sensational Space Shifters at the Electric Picnic last year - brilliant, stripped down show, peppered with nice anecdotes about the history of his music, and Zeppelins origins in Mississipi delta blues. Loved it, but his voice aint what it used to be. He still has a fabulous voice but cannot scale those dizzy heights anymore.

FFS, James Delingpole was trolling around Glaston wearing a 'ilove fossil fuels' t shirt. He must have thought it was 'Gas On' bury! Arsefaced cocklord.

It's funny what sticks in your mind, though. If you asked me what Radiohead played I'd probably give you a reasonably accurate response. Tanky's wedding though? Eh? :D

Although I do now have a dim recollection of being at the Stone Circle, with wiskey. But I think that's only because when I got home I found a photo of myself on my camera, totally asleep in front of one of the stones, and wondered how on Earth I'd managed a selfie while in a coma.

:D

Great time. Felt quite 'business as usual' rather than laden with new gimmicks/features and changes (Arcadia move (much needed) and removal of portaloos are pretty much the biggest things I can think of??) and the lineup (IMO) had the smell of a business that went over-budget on last years megastar headliners and had to retreat from there. I thought it was going to be therefore a different experience to last years, and it was. I had much more time to wander round, especially the late night dance bits in Hayes/SE Corner (though still managed to stumble on too much stuff on Sunday cursing that I hadn't had a look around here earlier!).

Dolly - wasn't too fussed by all the hype, and tbh I stil feel that meh was justified. I appreciated the work clearly done to drop in the bits us Brits would find endearing. though anyone who says it was a patch on, say, Tom Jones the last time he was up must be mad ;)

Ed Sheeran - So disappointed :( Loads of noodly experimental stuff that didn't connect enough (save the shirt twirly thing at the end maybe) and he didn't play my fave (Drunk Again)!

De La Soul - One of the highlights. If the rap game ever dies up for them they'd make great Red Coats (in a good way). There was an audible stunned silence shared everywhere when it kicked in they really weren't coming back out to do 3 Magic Number encore :D

Lily Allen - Perfect. Just perfect.

Massive Attack - Not my thing and was dragged along. Like the show with the messages behind the band. A mate spent a fair bit of it shouting "Boring" through all the noodlier stuff to much childish guffawing from us and a fair few distracted from their trippy ambience to seething rage that we were desecrating their idols.

Other notes...DJ EZ at Arcadia - ridiculous. the guy is on another planet....SE Corner, unchanged from last year so maybe a bit tired? Still pissed off I didn't give the common or the Temple a decent shot and ended up in the NYC Downlow every night

managed to see lots of stuff I'd missed last year so pretty pleased with that, especially Park and Avalon. Still spent far too much time in the SE corner but there you are. really enjoyed the stuff I saw in the big tent in Avalon. I thought Shangri La's hell wasn't as good as last years but the artwork was still pretty cool. Genosys was great. Common and Temple seemed to have had a permanent queue so never got in.

We managed to find the Underground Piano Bar on the Sunday afternoon and that was bloody weird, like a muddy crack den with a gramophone. Don't quite get the hype?

I did bar work so ended up working over a fair bit of the actual festival but the work itself was quite good fun and we were treated well (Avalon for Shelter) so would recommend them.

Didn't get to see many headliners apart from Arcade Fire (who were really good), my shifts meant I missed Massive Attack but at least I avoided your twatty friend, Ted Striker.

Turns out those bloody car park stickers are an mot failure. The garage have scraped the remains of 3 off with a razor. :D

that sums it up rather well. The change from portaloos with a roof and private smell to the pubic stench of open air longdrops led to far fewer sludgegulpers trundling around, so overall was probably a good thing. I didn't much like the reduction in festoon lights and all the new bright, bright floodlights though. Walking down past Acoustic was painful with 4 floods pointing straight at you. Apart from that it was all a bit predictable. Next year needs something exciting.

Yes, I had that problem years ago. What glue they use I have no idea. Warm soapy water and a bit of elbow grease works best I found.

I think mine had been on too long, I even tried nail polish remover. The razor blade seemed to work but I won't be trying it, too clumsy!

what a time :) despite being burnt, sodden, stinking and muddy i pretty much had a perma-grin from ear to ear for the duration.

it supports greenpeace, wateraid and oxfam, recycles everything pretty much, has a big solar array on the farm etc.

it's not perfect, but I'd say it's by far the best of any large festival in the UK in that respect.

it's a dairy farm, not sure how many cows and calfs will be shot there each year but it will be lots. i don't think the spirit of the festival will find itself damaged by a guy who shot a bear.
