Glastonbury 2014

They need you tbf. As you probably know, they used to have exactly those people doing exactly that job, called the Green Police. Last year, they replaced them with 'Gaia's Guardians', who went round persuading people not to drop litter through the medium of song. I'm not sure it entirely worked...

TBH I don't litter but those green police made me want to litter. The Gaia's Guardians would definitely have had me dropping rubbish.

what a rebel! do you deliberately turn on the taps when there is a hosepipe ban too?

Didn't quite like to rub in the early-entry crew perks ... preferred to mention the punter-relevant date ...

well it may encourage others to be volunteers - its not a perk as I will be working sometime on the Tuesday { not a full shift but its still a shift }

I made my Group bid today

funny enough there is a bigger demand for Latitude than Glastonbury - a few years ago I was snowed under with Glastonbury requests.

anyway I will find out at the end of March as to the actual allocation.

You're right -- its proper work, not just an easy perk, for crews of every stripe. I only meant the getting on site early bit, really. That's a genuine positive! :)

I saw blondie at glastonbury before..... Debbie Harry was totally twatted. It was awful.

There's always just one act I want to see at glasto, last year it was portishead, this year dolly.

Ill survive.

Blondie and Dolly Parton just confirmed - have seen Blondie but not Dolly Parton before.

Same! Not sure whether it was 1999 or 2000 that Blondie was there before, but I'm delighted by this news ... :D

As for Dolly, neither of us have EVER seen her live. So just like in 2008 our never having seen the Leonard Cohen Live Experience before in 2008 (and that wasn't a cover version of Old Grumpy either, albeit it was with entirely different songs :D :p ), we can't bloody wait ... :)

Really? I was completely minced and thought it was one of the best gigs I'd ever seen. It may well have been shit in reality though. :D

hold on, Blondie played glastonbury when I was at glastonbury?

I guess that will have been in one of the years when I managed not to see a single band, just raved.

it was 1999 and I did see them but I could not recall if they had played in a previous year - this year will be my 29th Glastonbury so they tend to merge into one.

I saw them somewhere in London but at what event I don't have a clue

Now Leonard Cohen is a different kettle of fish - first saw him in the early 80's and he used to show up every few year - Great value whatever the ticket costs were.

The fix is in place so that I am free Sunday evening but will have to get back by Midnight as its our Crew bar's busiest night.

I honestly don't remember how awful or otherwise Blondie were in '99. All I do remember was thinking how Debbie Harry had lost a ton of weight since I saw her previously at Phoenix with her "Jazz Passengers" :D. They played at Secret Garden Party a few years ago but the sound was so poor they were barely audible.

Debbie Harry in '99 was the most wasted person I've ever seen live (and that includes The Winehouse). Personally, we enjoyed it, but we'd had a few Burrow Hills by then. :D

lol, I've just been offered hospitality tickets at £430 odd pound a pop. That's a lot of money for a short cut between the main stages.

Well it would be if that is all it was - I am assuming they are normal hospitality tickets which allows access to the facilities rich hospitality Camping area.

If they are genuine { not all are } and someone has a need for secure camping then it may be worth it.

Yeah they're genuine for sure. And yes there is some vague information about access to a hospitality camping area and bars that open later then usual, but so what? Its not like getting a drink at any hour has ever been a problem at glasto.

Go on holiday for a week.

Quite.

Anyone looking to volunteer may be interested to know that Shelter are opening registration on Monday 10th at 10am.

Given that some people are desperate to go, and have very little chance of getting a ticket, at 200% of the standard ticket, they probably represent market value. Though I agree - better ways to spend 400 quid. Mind you, if I had cash to burn, and really wanted to go, and couldn't find another way, I'd pay it without a blink.
