Glastonbury 2009

Not so long now!

Just think -

in a few days we will be able to say 'it's Glasto next month!' :)

had a lovely Glasto planning conversation with a friend last night

We've been discussing where to camp. It still feels a bit weird this year because we bought the tickets so long ago. :hmm:

:D

for months, on and off, I've been lying in bed at night trying to sleep but thinking about the planning and getting too excited. now it'll go crazy, but at least I'll feel that it's close enough to start making lists :D

and then we'll be keeping an eye on the weather forecasts  :D ;)

you can start the countdown sparklefish :D

I'm determined not to take so many clothes this year, but I'm sure I'll fail at that

I'll get my calendar out.

I need to have a top per day and at least 3 spares because I'm so clumsy.

I took a lovely (white ) top one year, wore it on the thursday morning and spilt brown sauce from my breakfast within 20 minutes.

I need to buy wellies because the ones I ordered from Jileon for 50 quid are shit so I'm sending them back.

Semi-reliable rumour reaches me that crew will be back on proper laminated passes, rather than just special wristbands on their own, as last year  :)

Awww - those wristbands were pretty and you get to wear them all year. :(

ETA - the actual stage passes themselves were pretty rubbish. I'll just shut up now

I think (?) we'll still get the wristbands as well as the passes, just that in 2008 for some categories of crew there were no laminates, now it looks like the latter will be reinstated .... at least I hope so :p

I still have my 2007 wristband (punters, black) and my 2008 one (crew, green) :D

Soon to be added to ....

glasto regulars - is it best to get to the campsite wednesday or thursday? i was planning on arriving roughly thursday afternoon - is that a bit late and will i miss much of the fun?

you wont miss much of the fun, but if you dont get there til late you may find it difficult to find the really good places to camp (i.e. you could end up near the shitters and if its filthily muddy this could mean you get swamped with poo poo).......

But officially the fest doesnt start til friday morning, wednesday a lot of the stalls are still setting up...... getting there on weds is good to get all the sitting around at the campsite out of your systems and ready for the madness to begin.

you'll miss the good camping spots. Wedensday is always very plesant imo for just ambling around, reminding yourself of the site layout (or discoverng it for the first time). you wont actually miss many performances arriving then tho (we'll propbly be getting there about midday thursday, but only cos we're in a campervan, and I stil lwish I could talk the others into going on wednesday)

if I could get the time off work I could be there from the saturday before, that would be ace. but the real world needs me too much

I second the other veterans

Aim for Wednesday (and as early as possible), I have no doubts on that one whatsoever ....
