Spring is barely here but thoughts are already turning to summer, and here is what our long range specialist captain Bob has to say about it so far...
"The forecast pattern years (which I spend my time constructing and studying) have held remarkably firm over the last couple of months. If these were to be used for a 'projection' forward to the summer months then a possible scenario for June, July and August 2009 could be as below?"
*June*
The month begins cool and unsettled, the weather providing limited summer like conditions to the southern half of the UK, mainly a north/south division in conditions.
The middle of the month sees the weather remaining cool and possibly becoming if anything rather more unsettled countrywide for a time, high pressure then taking control from the third week so the prospect of much warmer and summery conditions right the way through until the end of June across the south of the UK, still rather more mixed over northern Briatin.
*July*
High pressure is in control to begin with locally very warm to hot conditions through the first week, although it'll all 'go bang' rather soon into the second week when mixed and cooler Atlantic influences take control.
The middle part of July again looks set to provide a north / south divide with the best of the weather over England and Wales, rather more changeable across northern Britain.
The hint of better conditions during the third week with higher pressure established close by, although the possibility of a cool northerly establishing later in the month.
