Glastonbury 2009

I'm not sure either. Looking at a 2002 sitemap, there appears to be a beer symbol there.

On that basis, I might speculatively add a symbol to the map :)

Makes a lot of sense. I wonder if that means the hospitality passes won't get the cut-through anymore?

I suspect they still will - for access to the bar, and because there'll be semi-legit people such as artist management who would obviously want to be with their acts.

In my little Glastonbury utopia, the hangers-on who think backstage is cool (and thus by definition are idiots) would be exiled to some outside-the-fence facility, to leave the people doing the actual work in peace. Not very realistic, but hey. ;)

I think you've just killed William. :D

Not at all .... :)

1. I can't click that link, not for Glastonbury -- on my PC, any metcheck link just defaults to Swansea.
2. Anyone who takes any notice whatsoever of metcheck (especially) before about June 1st is mad** :D

**I include myself, up to last year

If this were true I'd be cancelling my ticket and booking a week in shagaluf. :D

This early on it's total guesswork -- the serious expert/geek forecasters over on netweather.tv wouldn't dream of venturing any kind of forecast at all, this far out.

Later, around mid May or so, a forecaster on netweather with good track record and expertise will be devising a dedicated Glasto forecast. I propose to try  and ignore weather 'prospects' til then!

Remember too that in 2007 and 2008, Metcheck's earlier/longer term forecasts fluctuated wildly (to extremes) every few days.

I can guarentee that they'll switch to hot sunshine and complete dryness at some stage, then back to rain, then inbetween, then all over the place. That's what completely computer modelled forecasts do -- until about June, they're based on precedent and not on any advance data at all.

No human expert was involved with the making of that forecast.

Just have a little look at it, just for a laugh. and you will laugh, I guarantee it! :D

another year, another set of headliners that i couldn't give a damn about. i love glastonbury!

I wonder which day [Neil Young will] headline? Maybe Friday?

Blur play Manchester on the Friday I believe, and Springsteen is definitely down for headlining Saturday at Glasto.

Will check other sources another time ....

Pyramid headliners : Looking like Neil Friday, Bruce Saturday, Blur Sunday from a very quick scout around.

I almost dare not post, but i think i might be going again this year to have lots of fun like last year. Not been confirmed fully yet, but fingers crossed. :D

Likely site changes: Queens Head to go where Left Field was, Cinemas sharing with existing Acoustic field, and the sorry band of liggers that would normally be camped in central backstage get shunted out to where the cinemas were.

This is all very cool, especially the backstage bit, putting the liggers right on an edge of the site, and so bringing the cinemas somewhere usable.

Will go and catch up with the rest of this thread that I've dared not look at so far now...

Neil Young confirmed for the friday, shock horror.

Fleet Foxes confirmed, but not for any particular day, which seems odd

me neither, tho I think for the first time ever I might well go and see all three of the main stage headliners!

Apparently The Wonder Stuff are rumoured.

I want to see Blur and Neil Young but I won't be going to see Bruce.

That one confused me, met Miles Hunt quite a few times over the years on a work and drinking basis, and he always insisted that Glastonbury was a hippie filled shithole that he'd never ever play. Times change i guess.

As much as it's only really two of them left though, i'll still be down the front.

I had a really odd dream a while back about Morrissey and The Wonder Stuff but I can't remember it now.

I had such a crush on Miles Hunt.

Times change indeed, how long ago was he saying that? Because as well as occasional Wonder Stuff reunions, he's been playing at a fair number of smaller festivals for a while, with Erica Nockalls, and they included the odd Wonder Stuff song in those sets too. If he thought Glastonbury was a hippy filled shithole, heaven knows what he thought Beautiful Days and Solfest were like :D ;) :p

I had a chat with him at Glastonbury around 89 or 90. Can't remember if the Stuffies were playing that year but he was grazing in the sun like everyone else.

anyone got any opinions on how accurate the E festivals site 'rumour' pages tend to be? Ive just looked :) would be fantastic if some of them on there did appear!
