Belatedly picking up on this rumour -- from virtualfestivals :

VF : We hear you're playing Glastonbury this year?

Suggs : "So I'm led to believe. Yeah, it's all sort of up in the air but I've seen them advertising us, so I assume that we are playing there. We were going to do the Sunday afternoon bit but then I think Shirley Bassey came in so it's all being rearranged. But I very much look forward to playing there. We probably haven't since 1981."

I've been longing for years to see Madness at Glasto, they'd be superb :D

Don't know where Suggs gets the idea that he's 'seen them advertising us' from, though ...

(Oh, and kill that Shirley Basey rumour, Glastonbury .... )

Yer man at Guilfest, in 2002 :

<heads for Drum n Bass tent** to escape from the old farts :D :p ;) >

**Or Madness stage ...

<Actually that Johnny Cash gig was BRILLIANT, but otherwise, of the ones you mention .... >

So when do you know you're in or not - isn't it about 3 to 1 chance ????

What do you mean? I take it you've already registered. It'll be clear enough on ticket sale day (Sunday 1st April) whether you've succeeded ....

I'd love to see Dame Shirl, I hope she'll wear one of those frocks that's cut half way down her bum at the back  Sequins too of course

Consign me to Philistine Hell, but I've never really liked her at all ... sorry

Plenty of variety for all, though, that's the Glasto game. :)

I apologise for hoping she wouldn't make it  , cos she's clearly popular with quite a few ...

Dunno if it's been mentioned, but there's a Glastonbury sized gap in the Chemical Brother's tour schedule, with multiple dates either side of that weekend...now I wouldn't want to speculate but I'd say that was a clue...new album, world tour, dates galore in the previous and sucessive weeks...unless they're just taking the weekend off of course...

I've made the effort to attend them twice at Glastonbury - which is quite an effort for me ;) - was disappointed both times.

One time they had that stuff out with Gallagher and set up a mic at the front of the stage, I think lots were there for him to turn up - which, of course, he didn't.

Went to see them in 2000 and that was great, shame about the sound system, never to be repeated, I've been back. I think I'll go to the Croissant Neuf stage which i have never stepped into, 4 years of going.

I daren't say how many years I went without going in there  -- I'd been in every single other tent in that area ...

It's nice in Crioissant Neuf though :)

yer kidding aintcha? saw them on 2nd stage in the mudfest year, and they were mindbogglingly awesome. the bit where they went from where does it begin into private psychedelic reel was stupendous, made everyone we knew at home who was watching stop laughing at us and go 'fuck, wish i was there now', and its still one of my all-time live highlights.

normally the CB's bloody noodle way too much between tracks (like the orb did), but there they just played and bloody well rocked.
