Glastonbury 2005

apologies if this has been asked on the previous 10 - 20 pages as i havent been following this thread but do we have any indication when tickets are scheduled to be sent out?

i had a dream mine had been sent. Except because I wasn't awake to sing for it, they delivered it to the house I used to live in - with my ex-girlfriend!

Early June isn't it?

Around 2 weeks before the event IIRC.

Crispy your map is a marvellous thing.

I particularly like how it emphasises how much of the space has been enclosed and made private, unavailable to most people (btw I think the Jazz/Avalon camping should also be greyed). I don't like it any more when I can see it clearly on a map than I do when I'm there... especially as there are plenty of barriered off bits of the greenfields which may not show on official maps but are apparent on the ground.

A couple of minor suggestions- mark the market areas a bit more clearly, they're far more important navigationally than they currently appear; and highlight the paid for snobs and poseurs hotel areas (back of Lost Vagueness and parts of Pyramid backstage and the tipi field) in such a way that decent people know where those that are trying to destroy the festival hang out.

Following its 2004 success, The Paradise Lost Trailer Park is once again the sole purveyor of luxury accommodation for those who hate camping and want to enjoy Glasto in the comfort and style. This area is already fully booked and has a waiting list that would be worthy of The Ritz.

Ta for the feedback :) - Totally missed the Jazz Camping... Also I'm not entirely sure which bits of the top end of the site you can get to or not. I have no idea, having never ever been that side (I'm a long-time south of the railway camper :)). I've done the Tipi field a grey/green colour cos you can still wander round it (can't you?). Stalls are now bright red.

Any experts see anything else missing? Wiskers?
I might print some of these out, as the detail is better than the one you get in the programme.

I think it's pretty much right, but if you really want detail:
I'm in doubt about the extent of the grey area next to the pyramid disabled viewing platform. I'm not convinced it goes all the way to the Top Webbs Ash path boundary as shown, but I can't quite picture what does happen.
you're showing a grey square by the railway near the Other Stage disabled viewing platform. I don't think it should be grey.
there's an ever increasing amount of grey space around the Pennards Hill medical centre/cashpoints/cafe.
at the top of the site you've greyed the area around the church/cashpoints (& usually Radio Avalon). The public area boundary follows the track up to the corner by the bank... along there is the access to the main medical centre and welfare is.

I've written about 6 more points and crossed them out, realising you're right :)

Thanks :) - Still not entirely sure why I'm doing this...

There's no boundary shown for the Pennards Hill grey area so I'm leaving it off, for now.

Oi remember when it were all fields...

Nice work Crispy. :D

Can I link to it from other sites please?

A bit, sure!
Maybe best not to plaster it all over efestivals eh? I think I've got plenty of bandwidth to go round, but I'm not sure :)
And if there are any corrections - let me know!

Top job

efests is the last place I was thinking of - long story. Was thinking more the official Glasto site where I have a pinned thread with links to various maps of the site. But if you're worried about bandwidth I've got a fully paid up photobucket account which I can host anything under 250kb on with unlimited access. Needless to say I'll put your name up in lights as the creator. :)

I had insomnia and coloured this map in to clearly show stages, camping, backstage etc.

If anybody wants to use it, it's here:

http://www.internsnetwork.org.uk/users/tom/glastomap.jpg

Fields : Green
Camping : Dark Green
Woods : Darker Green
Backstage / Crew Camping : Grey
Stages : Orange
Toilets / Water : Blue
Bars / First Aid / Cashpoints : Red
Paths : Brown
Stalls : Purple

Should be mostly accurate, based on memory and the map itself, but corrections are warmly welcomed :)

Just looking at this map properly. Brilliant work, Crispy!!!

Seems to me that the repositioned toilets/waterpoint (blue rectangle) are not at the bottom of the Dragon Field, as we were originally thinking from another version of the 2005 sitemap. They look as if they're at the bottom of William Field instead.

<edit to add> : This is definitely the 2005 map, yes??? Because the toilets/waterpoint near the Urban camp (at the top of the hill, at the gap between Dragon and William fields) are STILL HERE, on this version. On another earlier version, we thought they'd been removed and relocated....

So the cordoned off crew area down one part of Dragon Field may still be intact ... ;) :D

But what is the black circle??

Possible correction needed??

The 'Field of Avalon' camping area, next to the Tipi Field, is coloured in green as if it's public camping.

I very much doubt this. I think it should be grey for crew (unless there's been a MAJOR change), but perhaps others can settle that one ...

Oops, thought I fixed that one.
Ah yes, it's in the gif version, which is better.

Not sure about the black circles, but there's at least one in every campsite. Fire station maybe? Looks like there was a key on the original map (you can just see the corner in the bottom right. Wiskers, could you scan the key in pretty please? :)

The efestivals boards are rumouring that Kylie's replacement is going to be Stevie Wonder.....

 If he plays his early stuff, not so cool; if he plays anything from the '80's and onward :D

Tort - I was looking at your camp advice on the official site last night. It's absolutely brilliant (and what a lovely pic of WOW :D ).

Well worth reding, even if you been lots of time! :)

Crispy - your map is fabulous - thanks very much :)

More colouring for Crispy!

Just scanned and stuck together the larger version of the map with grid refs and car parks.

Full Glasto Map

This should be large enough but I can put up a high resolution version if anyone wants a print out.

I'll have to look how credible that rumour is ...

There's been so many.

No, the firepoints are triangles I think.

oh gawd...
I mean Patti Smith and Television are both nearby but not playing that night - what an amazing double bill that would make as a finale - first time together in 20 years! Now that would be a coup.

Thanks Penni. vampthing on TOS has now hosted the FAQ's on her "Gorge" website so they can be easily navigated and we can update as new info becomes available. Nearly 10,000 hits on the main set now and more promises of cider than I'm sure I'll be able to cope with! :D
