WTF is 'the court of mankind'? :D

I work for a council, the work vans tend to have all borough parking permits, although he may have a point on parking on double yellows as traffic wardens are also employed by local councils :hmm:

That's a Adur & Worthing councils van, the two councils operate the car parks in their own areas, it's West Sussex County Council that is responsible for on-street parking, his parking ticket would have been issued on behalf of WSCC, by a traffic warden employed by NSL Services Group (previously known as NCP Services), to add to the confusion Adur & Worthing councils' joint services team collects the fines on behalf of WSCC. It's no wonder that chap is a bit confused about it all TBH.

Also he spotted that van in Portslade, which comes under Brighton & Hove City Council, so not even in West Sussex.

There used to be a 'parking shop' in town operated by NSL on behalf of all three councils, issuing parking permits and collecting payment for both them & parking fines, but it closed, partly because people kept smashing the windows. :D

I've seen where the Hackney Traffic Wardens work - no signage on the building identifying it - I just happened to walk by when a load of them came out - and I know where they work out of in the borough I work for - again nothing identifies it as the Traffic Warden Office .

Trevor Hinckley left his bike on a small patch of sand next to West Beach Road, Shoreham, which is marked with double yellow lines, on August 8 last year.

Then in October Trevor spotted a district council car parks van left on a single yellow line

So three months later he hasn't paid the fine and he spots a council van which may or may not be parked illegally.

Top whataboutery from Trevor there

NSL did not run Brighton and Hoves parking shop the council does or did they closed it just to make things more difficult.
NSL do the on street parking enforcement
the council collect the fines issue permits if the stars are right  and do the all the admin.
one parking solutions do the carparks and are "enthusiastic" in giving out fines

There have been a number of instances where councils have been forced to return penalties because some part of the legal enforcement chain was left incomplete. Which is basic due diligence where a council is concerned. It tends to involve some kind of post-1991 act non-criminal enforcement scenario though as police and proper traffic wardens (not patrollers/City Wardens etc) have much more freedom to act under the old legislation.

The one I remember here a few years back was that whilst the speed camera vans had the appropriate way leave to operate from double yellows/other restrictions, they had neglected to get way leave to operate from council marked parking bays - which resulted in a lot of money (over a million IIRC) being handed back and points removed from licences etc. They had been operating without authority/permission for several years.

Also, the fixed speed camera near me that was the subject of a successful appeal on technical/siting reasons by a retired engineer neighbour is currently slumbering under a bright orange "not in use" cover - oops!

He had the time and the will to assemble several hundred pages of evidence and measured drawings to prove his claim - either that or the court lost the will to live when asked to read it all! :D

I was posting about the NSL running the parking shop here in Worthing, and doing the parking enforcement in both Adur & Worthing.

And, I am aware of one parking solutions, because their HQ is in Worthing too, but I don't think they are involved in the public car parks here.

spend way to much time telling other council workers the probation service and on occasion the police.
The the dispensation that allows them to park on double yellows park for free is out of date. Probation was 5 years out of date! :D it was a fleet vehicle everyone just assumed it was sorted.
police unmarked vehicles are meant to have their logbook on display not a problem if the coppers are sat in it. Or its a firearms big 4x4 bmw with the light kit and the huge cage in the back even I can figure that one isn't normal .
but an unmarked car with no log book is getting a ticket fortunatly the coppers returned just in time apprantly it saves cash for routine stuff if its not painted up doesnt have to carry all the kit etc.

No driver license or insurance required

Freemen doing well in NZ. :D

Tl;dr:

Idiot tries to get himself and his 5 kids legally declared dead.

10/10 for this novel approach, mind. :D

Beresford claimed his “legal entity” of Richard John Beresford was created at his birth, and said in a statement to the court the “feto-embryonic material and placenta” also “died” the day of his birth.

I once had a speeding fine in Dorset, which was overturned about 6 years later after one driver was able to prove that the Camera was incorrectly addressed

Marty of the name 21 would like to declare himself dead and cannot therefore be fined 60 quid. Man overboard! Abandon ship! <quotes Magna Carta, some obscure bit of maritime law and a few choice lines from Harry Potter>

That sort of thing? Works a treat, I've heard.

I've just come across this article, which very neatly explains of all the nutjobbery displayed by FOTL folk when they go to court, including why they invoke the Magna Carta, talk about themselves in third person, add colons or full stops to their names, and other such weirdness. Very informative as well as funny. Apparently they hate words starting with 'con', or ending in 'ship', among other lunacies :D

I didn’t know this part of their belief system, which particularly apeshit :D

The Cestui Que Vie Act of 1666 is the other legal document that has somehow assumed enormous importance in the Freemen belief system. This brief piece of legislation simply states that a person missing at sea is assumed to be dead after seven years. No reasonable person could interpret it in any other way, and yet Freemen believe that it means that the government assumes everybody to be dead from the age of seven (or some variation thereof) and has taken possession of their person and/or property. Since the Act was passed in the same year as the Great Fire of London, Freemen mythology has been embellished with the claim that the Act was passed at the height of the blaze and that the Great Fire was an early example of the ‘false flag’ attacks that are so beloved of conspiracy theorists.

Oh god three hours in a minibus with one of these loons who was also a Cyrpto bro and anti-vax. It was so stupid it burns.

It’s interesting that they say the numbers adopting these beliefs are limited mainly because they face financial penalties and/or imprisonment for going along with it, whereas regular conspiraloons aren’t putting much at risk.

I guess it’s mostly restricted to mentally unwell people with that kind of deluded belief that they can’t be wrong and can’t take a loss of face, and people in such a financial mess that they don’t have anything more to lose - noting that there’s been FOTLers active in anti-eviction movements because that’s good territory for recruiting the latter.

That is a superb explanation, thank you,

Some of the elements of this write up of the conviction and sentencing of a man who killed his wife and daughter suggest a particularly grim FOTL/sovereign citizen-type worldview blended in with MRAesque/incel-ish misogyny :(

...Nash, who represented himself in court, was dismissive of the victim impact statements read in court, saying from the secure dock: 'It's BS and I knew them better.'

He added: 'It was not premeditated, it was already predetermined.'
Representing himself, Nash claimed the judicial system did not apply to him and compared courts to casinos where 'the house always wins'.
...TikTok videos, accessed by the defendant, showed the 'embittered' and 'self-pitying' mindset which he had.

One of the clips he watched had the text: 'A broken man who has rebuilt himself is very dangerous'. A second said: 'Tell me why, when anything gets rough in a relationship, women are told to leave him and men are told to try and fix things.'

The third, which showed Kermit the Frog by a fire, said: 'Do girls actually feel for hurting a guy or do they just say their apologies and never think about how she affected his life again.'
...After being found guilty today, Suffolk Police said that Nash's defence had 'rested on his belief that he 'lawfully killed' his wife and daughter'.

'His attempts to justify this were through his interpretation of common law, property and marriage vows,' a Suffolk Police spokesman said.

The spokesman added that Nash 'believed he 'lawfully killed' Louise as she was his 'property' and he did it to protect her because he did not trust anyone else to look after her, as she had complex care needs due to being non-verbal and diagnosed as autistic'.
