They banned Pirate Bay which has a similar vpn workaround.
VPN is always an option, but the vast majority of people wouldn't have a clue what a VPN is,

Can't get Elisabeth Violet to answer her phoneThe39thStep we need an update.
Agree. Not enough people will bother to use VPNs to make it a viable platform if it were banned. Can't imagine it will be but tbh it's a propaganda platform for the right. It isn't open, it isn't representative and it isn't a public service. Can imagine worse things than it being cut down in some way.
Cunts ruining it for the rest of us unfortunately. At what price free access?I'm not sure asking the government to be more authoritarian about what sites and social media are accessible is the answer.
Proper kicking off in Plymouth now.

SM is a MAJOR problem in all this, and need to be dealt with, if one platform is owned by a complete loon, that's not prepared to deal with the problem, but instead adds fuel to it, what is the answer?
Social media didn't exist during the '30s and the '70s and wasn't behind the rise of the far right in those eras.SM is a MAJOR problem in all this, and need to be dealt with, if one platform is owned by a complete loon, that's not prepared to deal with the problem, but instead adds fuel to it, what is the answer?

Less and less people use it? Which I think is the case. It clearly does have uses but it’s not the be all and end all of democratic discourse. I think future generations will be less inclined to use it.SM is a MAJOR problem in all this, and need to be dealt with, if one platform is owned by a complete loon, that's not prepared to deal with the problem, but instead adds fuel to it, what is the answer?
Who Musk? Possibly under UK law but problem is he is in the USA and i seriously doubt they would extradite him (first amendment and all that).I wonder whether his 'civil war' comment could be construed as encouraging people to riot?
Cat pics and random ass musings of randoms are not the media any more than the old opinion columns in the local papers are "the media".But you want to call on the Government to restrict access to media.
Do you mistakenly think the Government is on our side or something?
What about all the environmental and left wing stuff that gets organised on social media?
I can't believe that some of you think some sort of crackdown and banning of the use of social media would be in any way helpful! It's insane?
Banning no. People voting with their feet, perhaps. I think there’s a lot of burnout from these platforms. Could be wrong. But you want to call on the Government to restrict access to media.

If an American business was selling chocolate laced with lead, it would be removed from the UK until they removed the lead.
How is Twitter and Facebook any different? They're stupid ass apps that are inciting political instability in our country and someone(s) are gonna get killed before long.

Not sure the apps are on our side either. But you want to call on the Government to restrict access to media.

We could make him a Finest Citizen in the World Award that he had to collect in person and wait for him to arriveWho Musk? Possibly under UK law but problem is he is in the USA and i seriously doubt they would extradite him (first amendment and all that).

I'm ambivalent about it for the most part but it has nothing to do with imagining the government is on our side. Musk has already clamped down on Left wing speech and massively amplified the Right. The government would immediately take action if the situation were reversed and Twitter was loaded with revolutionary Leftists seizing the means of production.
They don't allow for Left or Right access to social media out of some sense of fair play, they do what they feel is expedient when they feel it's expedient.
