F1 2019

Good morning all, lots of talk about rain, I haven't seem the weather at Monza today so have no idea if it will rain or not. Should be a good race despite the fact that the track isn't really known for overtaking.

Rosberg is an enigma to me - as a driver he had a reputation for being super smart and technically minded, but all I’ve seen from him since he retired is stupid behaviour. I agree with Limejuice, I have no desire whatsoever to hear what he says on any subject.

Having said that, I suppose a public mea culpa is the best response to the public criticism from VES and HAM.

The thing is Sky already employs a few ex-drivers to delight the lug-'oles of screwed-over subscribers: Anthony Davidson, Paul di Resta, Karun Chandok, Johnnie Herbert, Damon Hill, not to mention Saint Martin of Brundle.

What perspective do those intelligent, interesting, sombre-trousered speedsters lack, that entails rolling out the welcome mat for the human equivalent of a bowl of porridge?

iirc Rosberg is employed by Sky sport Germany as a pundit for a set number of races during the season. I think that he is happy to also be a pundit on Sky UK as it not only helps his profile but he also gets another pit-lane pass which he gives to his personal videographer to get content for his youtube channel, iirc he got into trouble over this in the past, he gave his "world champion" pass to the videographer a while ago and was told that was not allowed, but giving his press pass from Sky isn't apparently (all ex F1 world champions get an access all areas pass for every GP, but can't give them to anyone else to use).

I love watching clips of the old cars and drivers reminds me of the time when my body could handle things better, nowadays my mind is always having thoughts my body can't handle :) LOL

Just got back from camping. Have destinked the van and myself and just switched on the big 4k HD telly laptop for gridwalk :)

Am calling Hamilton for this one

That was also my feeling. The ferraris are defo quick on the straights, but the better downforce of the Mercs seems to give them better strategy options and their engine seems to win on efficiency during races too, allowing them to do less fuel saving and attack for longer.

Having said all that, a Ferrari win is now probably guaranteed!

Ps, didn’t those Renaults look racy in qualifying?! Where has that turn of speed come from - new quali mode on the Renault engine, or just lack of downforce allowing them to have low drag on the straights perhaps?

It may come down to the start (as per) if Hamilton can get a better lift off than Leclerc. Get that DRS will aid ferrari on long straights but you know...

Hamilton will be very determined and has that extra experience over Leclerc

Vettel is going to get absolutely hammered in the Italian press. Making mistakes like that is bad enough, doing it at Monza won’t be forgiven quickly.

Alonso will be sneaking around the back of the Ferrari motorhome to get in there and make his case for a drive next year!
