F1 2019

What can we learn from Ferrari's pole position? I would argue that we learn nothing at all, but what it shows is that Ferrari have the fastest car in a straight line, something I think we all understood from preseason testing. Montreal is one of the tracks that has long straights and a few slow corners. I believe this shows that Ferrari are still going to have problems at far more tracks than they are going to have an advantage on. While they have built a very fast car that isn't all a team needs over a season. They have an advantage here and I believe they will have an advantage at Monza, they could also have a small advantage at Spa, but just being good at a small minority of tracks will not win them the championship. On the other hand Mercedes have also built a fast car but their car also have much more grip and downforce, this combination is what is needed over a season to win, as they have the advantage at many tracks.

I'm looking forward to the race as I think we should get some good action throughout the field, but I don't think it is going to be a slam-dunk for Ferrari, I think they still have a lot of work to do.

I think with Max out of position, perhaps Botty too, plus Danny Ric up in the mix, we should see some good racing.

If, at the start, Hammy keeps his attention glued to the two red cars on his left, we might well see Danny Ric charging down the right, late-braking his way into contention.

:)

For the hard-of-thinking/lazy, what time's the race?

i.e. UK time. Or BST. Or is it GMT still? Fuck knows.

Am really looking forward to this one. Canada is an exciting track, not least of all the wall of champions :)

Some good drivers with ground to make up and reckon the Hamilton/Vettel start is going to be either amazing or chaos. Hamilton to take the lead off Vettel is my shout.

Jenson is a good presenter. Very articulate.

Keep Button, drop Rosberg, I say.

I'm watching the Sky coverage for more or less the first time this year and Jenson is great. He doesn't take it too seriously, bit like Jake on C4. I met Jenson briefly once at Monaco, very nice bloke and his dad was a great laugh. I was kind of hoping C4 were going to get him.
