F1 2019

and then pits

Would not like to be giving him a race debrief today

Might get a Max like 2 hours to chill out

Good drive by Lewis but he was never going to loose that race especially after Max got the 5 second penalty, great job by the commentators to try and make the drive interesting :)

Danny Ric showed last year that you can go 5 seconds slower than full race pace and still remain at the front here

So have the stewards made their pronouncement on the clash between Lewis and Max yet? Any penalties affecting race result?

Hopefully not. To me it looked like there was nothing more Lewis could have done than to straightline the chicane, and Max was within his rights to try something. Of course I’d feel differently if Max had given Lewis a puncture and cost him loads of places.

Just goes to show I suppose that penalties do need to take into account the results of an incident, not just what the drivers did.

Farewell Niki
Niki-Lauda-PA4-700x367.jpg

Family, friends, Formula 1 drivers past and present, and thousands of fans have gathered in Vienna for the funeral of a motorsport icon: Niki Lauda. The fearless three-time World Champion sadly passed away on May 20 at the age of 70, less than year since undergoing a lung transplant. Tributes were paid throughout the build-up and the entirety of the Monaco Grand Prix weekend, with all 20 drivers donning Lauda’s famous red cap on race day. Teams also customised their liveries, whilst Mercedes turned their halo red, as well as one of their stars on the car. The latter mark of respect will ‘stay forever’. At St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna, two big portraits of Lauda, plus six white candles and rose wreaths surrounded his coffin. His wife, Birgit, placed Lauda’s iconic red helmet on top. Before the service took place, fans were permitted to walk past the coffin and pay their final respects to one of the all-time greats of motorsport. Formula 1 drivers past and present are due to attend a private Requiem Mass later on Wednesday with Alain Prost giving a reading from the Old Testament. The likes of Lewis Hamilton, Toto Wolff, Christian Horner and Dr Helmut Marko are amongst those present.

Could Nico Hulkenberg be about to replace Pierre Gasly

Pierre Gasly hasn't had the best of starts to life at Red Bull despite showing signs of improvement but it could be about to get a whole lot worse for him, with Nico Hulkenberg reportedly being lined up to replace him. Just as he was settling in could it be all change for Gasly? Well, that is what some of the Italian press are suggesting with German Nico Hulkenberg being lined up to replace him. According to news reports, Helmut Marko's patience is running thin and is questioning the decisions made when it came to their drivers and he is now weighing up their options. Nico Hulkenberg however, is a surprise name to be linked with Red Bull Racing. Usually, a team built on their ability to bring young drivers through their academy and into their F1 setup. Hulkenberg is currently 31 and has been in the pinnacle of motorsport since 2010 when he made his debut in Bahrain. However, the team might be looking for a cool, composed head in the form of Hulkenberg with all the action in the form of Max Verstappen. Could Red Bull's desire for calmness and composure spell the end for Pierre Gasly?
