Nothing to lose surely - get out to him and it’s no shame, hit some shots off him and it’s a story to bore people in the car with for the next 50 years
Yeah definitely. I'd be wanting to face him. However, half of those were bowled leg stump comfortably beating the outside edge. Saying that you're up for it, and playing like you're up for it are two different things. (I don't blame them at all for backing away.)I reckon they would be up for it. How many times in their life would a club batter have the chance to face that?
Yeah I'm a total ferret, so I'd just back away and leave the stumps to him.As a genuine No.11 and previously being hit on the head (without a helmet) by a county bowler moonlighting for a village side I can safely say I would not want to face Mr Wood.
Was he bollocks about to get dropped.
It is becoming clear that many three-format players are taking on too much. Meanwhile, t20Is are set to be expanded massively in the next five years. The ODI format is in trouble, while test cricket is being pushed even more to the sidelines to accommodate the t20 leagues.
We're at a dangerous point in cricket. Short-term greed could ruin things quite quickly.
test cricket > ODI cricket > t20 cricket
could quickly become
t20 cricket > test cricket > ODI cricket
Too late for this now, but I agree with Graeme Swann's suggestion a few years ago that t20 shouldn't be played at international level.
Great to see Mark Wood on the mend but I can't say I'd be best pleased if I was a humble club cricketer having to face 95mph missiles.
If it's considered too dangerous for elite test players to face bowling like that when it's slightly gloomy then it shouldn't be allowed for an off-duty accountant weekend cricketer to face it, whatever the light. Looks like he was giving it his all, almost falling over there.
The top level of club cricket is srs bsns, mind you. These are players who will practise hard. It's where Wood started as well. In Aus, it's common for elite players to turn out for their clubs. If it's considered too dangerous for elite test players to face bowling like that when it's slightly gloomy then it shouldn't be allowed for an off-duty accountant weekend cricketer to face it, whatever the light. The oppo have posted this. Includes what looks like 2 sixes over point. And some shit music.

Wood isn't an arsehole so I would expect he plays fair. Pattinson on the other hand
Yes. It was the send off more than anything. That's not bad really. He wasn't bowling anything too short and isn't anywhere the pace of Wood anyway. The batsman looked quite competent actually.
