Domestic and European Rugby

BiL has just sent me a pic of him & my nephew from behind the posts so he has somehow managed to get tickets.

Tremendous game, Bath heroic and really unlucky really. I had to go for a kip at half time because the dog woke me up at 6 this morning after a late night. Couldn't watch the rest of the game because you can't flick back/forwards on itv so I watched it after the league final.

I enjoy league games but the two finals did confirm to me that union is usually better to watch. League often goes run into the defence with a brutal hit x4 then kick and repeat in the other direction. Union has more passing the ball across the line and running which is a lot more attractive to watch. Along with everyone piling onto the player with the ball reminiscent of a maul between two English middle-ages villages.

Northampton are superb to watch with their attacking shape, mix of power and soft hands. Sleightholme who scored the second try has made so many breaks off his wing, and is one of those players who can keep leg driving through the tackle. Cant believe Mitchell took that tap and go in front of the posts, when trailing 18-21, that could have cost them the game. Very poor game management. He redeemed himself a few minutes later though.

Hopefully Fin Smith the Northampton 10 isn’t injured too badly, I wanted to see him start a test against the all blacks next month (though I reckon he was more likely to play in…

… 2 weeks time when England play Japan. This match will be via RugbyPass.com - for free :)

It’s the summer but a reminder that’s there international rugby kicking off this month and next.

On Saturday morning at 0650 England play Japan. This is available to watch for free via RugbyPass.com

From memory it can be cast to a TV or watched via a computer / mobile etc (There is an app)

Might be worth registering for it beforehand. Rugby pass is the world rugby media arm, it’s not some dodgy thing just in case anyone is unsure :)

Also on Saturday Wales play South Africa at Twickenham, and the Barbarians play Fiji. These are on Sky, though it looks like the Wales match will be available on S4C & iplayer too.

It is also the women’s premier league final - Bristol v Gloucester, which is being hosted at Exeter and that’s where I’ll be :)

Later in the summer England play New Zealand twice, Ireland play South Africa, Wales play Australia and Scotland face USA, Canada, Chile and Argentina

Bloody dog always wakes me up about now:mad:

Japan take an early deserved lead

Eddie Jones must be creaming himself

Bloody hell Japan playing well in first 5 minutes.

Solid looking England team, too.

England: Furbank; Feyi-Waboso, Slade, Lawrence, Freeman; M Smith, Mitchell; Rodd, George (c), Cole, Itoje, Martin, Cunningham-Smith, Underhill, Earl.

well quite a few I recognize :)

Basically full strength as they go to play New Zealand are in 2 weeks time

England can’t get on the ball and are booting most of their possession away

We need our own personal AI feeds so we can edit disturbing stuff like that out

Nice to see Smith playing well though - some great passing/kicking/running leading to tries.
