'real' feminists. Right.
No it doesnt, you are being deliberately dishonest.
you're only just reading to the end, arent you?It takes to the third paragraph before Barbra Ellen states 'Perhaps it could have been assault had the bodyguard not intervened'
She doesn't even consider this violent episode as assault.
What do the Faculty of Occupational Medicine have to do with anything?
While female violence gets a disproportionate amount of attention, it's male violence that remains dominant.

It wasn't, according to legal definitions, assault. Simple as that.
"Ideally, no one should be attacking someone else."
But just ignore the bits you dont like, and continue to misread the piece.
'firing a stiletto'? If you want to be taken seriously, try making sense. So punching, kicking or even firing a stiletto at someone isn't assault now?
And, no, throwing your leg in someones direction whilst being held back by someone else far enough away so that the leg cant make contact doesnt count as assault. Which is why no newspaper that I saw said she 'assaulted' him. But it is why the evil Ellen wrote "Perhaps it could have been assault had the bodyguard not intervened"
And, please, point out precisely where Ellen says 'its okay.' Where she actually uses those words (or ones that mean the same thing). Saying 'the whole thing' doesnt cut it.
as no one (on this thread at least) agree's with your interpretation.
The open line of the article
'Solange and Jay-Z: it's simply not the same if a man is hit by a woman'
'Men are bigger than women. And they're not routinely the least bit scared of us'
Then she alludes to reason to what 'J Zay' might have done to deserve such a hammering. etc, etc
With no knowledge of the 'ins' and 'outs' of the incident, Barbra Ellen has went out of her way to 'fellon set' Jay Z.
The worst type of journalism, with one foul swope of her pen Barbra Ellen has turned the victim into the aggressor.
The Guardian making Solange out to a hero. Disgraceful stuff for a broadsheet.
You really haven't much to go on when you have instate auld where singing the same 'Hymn sheet' argument.
Perhaps haven't seen the tirade of abuse 'I suffered' for even daring to question 'Ellen's' article, or her motives, el-ahrairah Suggesting I commit suicide etc, etc

If you are so bothered about violence between the sexes, why have you never raised the issue before?

Nah, that's just posturingFiring a Stiletto SS-19 missile at someone goes beyond assault somewhat.
Did you watch the video? She assaulted him (battery in the US). You don't even have to make contact for it to be assault in the UK.
None of which is actually an answer to what I wrote - funny that. The opening line says two things are not the same, that is all. And you know what? They're not! Rape is not the same as murder. Do you interpret that as me saying that rape is okay? Or that murder is okay? Because that is clearly not the case. The open line of the article

well you should follow the debate better then - it is actually the far more important one.The second question seems crucial, the first utterly irrelevant.
Would you mind pointing out which part is wrong?yup, and you're wrong

It is actually the whole point of the article - "While female violence gets a disproportionate amount of attention, it's male violence that remains dominant." That's why I ask the question. This idiot takes massive umbrage at one womans actions (Ellens) yet has said absolutely nothing about the far more frequent and far more serious violence carried out by men every single day.
I've watched the video, I disagree that it counts as assault.Would you mind pointing out which part is wrong?
She is down playing FOM violence and well you know it.
Unprovoked violence is wrong regardless of gender.
I never claimed you did.
If that is the point she is trying to put across why not just called like it is.
How can it be excusable to attack some one unprovoked?
Care to inform us what this curious logic is? The amount of attention given to male and female 'violence' is clearly the point of the article, no?There's a very curious logic to what you're implying, and also a bizarre precendent to be followed for posting on the forum. I have followed the debate just fine, thanks.
