Ban leaf blowers!

So they can't compost the leaves because they're too toxic, so they burn them instead?

Must be some kind of alice in wonderland cheese-nightmare in these people's brains I swear to god.

What make and how good is it at shreding leaves, many seem to leave a lot to be desired.
Einhell GC-EL 3024 E Electric Garden Leaf Blower and Vacuum

Worked great, filled two bags of fully shredded stuff just picking up bits. Vast majority went straight on the leaf pile compost. Then stuck those shredded bits in a big compost bin. Filled the thing with that and other half rotted bits from other piles.

Vibration was a little concerning after. Hadn't considered gloves and it wasn't ideal. May need to get some or possibly change machine if this isn't common. Google says yes but then it always says the worst thing and I used it maybe an hour, possibly longer tho, new shiny thing. Seeing people say that's too long tho.

Glove recommendations anyone?

Thanks, how does it cope with wet leaves?

Ok really, if its very wet and sunk you can just angle under it, has a set of wheels on the front you can just roll it along the floor. Did sometimes switch to suction for those and it seemed to be fine. Even rather large ones it sucked in when I thought it would have a problem. Did get blocked occasionally but rolling it usually worked that out right away.

Very good at discovering dog shit instead of raking/mowing through it.

Plus it was only £40

Yesterday, residents of my block were treated to a two hour leaf blowing spectacular. He took an age to clear a small area.

He also had no visible ear protectors and no mask which can't have been good for his health.

Did you report it to the estate manager?

He's a grown adult and can make his own choices. And even if I did try to tell him he'd never be able to hear me over the deafening noise of the leaf blower.
He might want to get some ear protection, mines electric but 2 hours seems insane. Saw max of 30-45 mins before a break just for hand vibration purposes. Not sure about sound but I know I spent a lot of time by 18ft height of speaker and my hearing wasn't quite the same after if no tinnitus.

Blew out all the major bits from our huge amount of tree's to clear dog poo without raking it then raked the rest. All sat in the compost piles now. Well the leaves are. Screwfix has some -35db I am looking at and I have used mine maybe 3 times. Some people are not familiar with the risk of their profession. DJ's wear ear plugs when it cranked up. They should know too. Same as other construction workers with vibratatory equipment.

Got a bulk of thick nitrate gardening gloves, spread load over two shoulders, with additional gloves for cream and eczema, two hands and only did about an hour and it doesn't hurt now. Did deliveries for a major supermarket and my shoulder killed, but work and money. If they can improve their conditions why not give them the opportunity to do so.

Yeh looks like they minimised costs at the expense of the workers manual labour, it happens a lot. Also a leaf blower would be ridiculous, blowing it where? it's all concrete/stone/extra mature cheddar/whatever. Collection seems the most important bit. My £40 electric leaf blower shreds for mulch tho vibrations seems a major issue for those using it as a job.

Ask people who used manual tools for decades to do tasks they were not really designed for if they like this. I'd imagine a floating electric rig with no strain on the worker is more effective at protecting them than a manual brush/rake/etc. Mate was on the bins and made a good living at it but it fucked his back despite being the top lifter at the gym, had 6 gym employees spot him for the record a year later he switched careers because of the work.

I hope that I did not already post the following information. My memory is not what it was.
The other day it said on Gardeners Question Time on Radio 4 that an academic study had shown that letting leaves lie on a lawn was good for them.

I will try to listen to that when I have the time, but it depends very much on the volume of leaves.

A few is certainly good, as it will help to feed the soil life over the winter, but too many will potentially smother the grass and prevent photosynthesis.

Broom looks a bit short for him, it will probably fuck his back.

Leaf blowers make a lovely noise. I am highly misophonic, particularly to random or unexpected sounds, anything that's loud and on the white - brown noise spectrum is brilliant. I've found a new video to go to sleep to:

I quite like a bit of Merzbow, so I'm totally fine with that vid.

The car wash behind me fire up their jet-washers a few times a day, which I imagine might annoy some, but everyone needs to launder their money somehow

Council lads are out this morning. Clearing the paths with brooms and shovels. Leaving all the leaves not affecting paths or gutters.

The sky does not appear to have fallen in as a result of this. So all you leaf blower apologists, I'm afraid you're full of shit.

I’ve a lot of needles to clear, I’m surrounded by pine trees, my blower will be on suck so they can be used as mulch, and composted.

I've got a petrol leaf sucker/mulcher. It keeps.my customers happy and I get free leaf mould. Win win..it goes back into feeding plants. Am I satan?
Never used it as a blower as that's fucking stupid.
