Jamaica and South Africa have qualified for the knock outs for the first time; women's footie is really improving.
Jamaica, with their lack of funding and rank outsiders have qualified without conceding a goal despite playing two of the world's top teams. Amazing. Germany or Columbia in the knockouts.

Yeah, like Marta said in her interview teams who previously would get beat 7 or 8 are now more likely to be competitive, and I was saying to Mrs SI that the gap is closing fast between the traditionally strong teams of Germany, France, Norway, England etc and many of the rest. It all makes it more exciting. Imagine the number of girls (and boys) kicking a football for the first time in Jamaica or Colombia this week.
