Who will win the 2024 US election?

Who will win?

this might be a stupid question but if another Republican had been chosen, would it impact the result? For example someone like Ted Cruz or Marco Rubio or even JD Vance. Would anyone consider voting Republican now who didn't before - and vice versa?

Not really. Most will vote for the party they've registered for regardless of the candidate.

They don't really even care about the stock market or the price of gas. We've had record highs in the markets and the last time I filled up with gas, it was less than $2.60 a gallon. If they really thought that those things were controlled by the President, they'd be voting for the Democrats. A lot of Republicans all down the line are just as big of liars as their candidate. It's been eye-opening to see people I've known for years go down this route. Often, to the point that they'll post something the complete opposite of what they said when Trump was in office.

like propsition 1?
and i only noticed last week that there is a sentorial election

If it's a rented apartment, the landlord might have an issue with political signs in apartment windows.

Saying that, I live on the same block where an older couple have had 'Let's Go Brandon' flags in their apartment windows for the past three years. :D

I've also seen the woman of that couple loudly shout down a longstanding local homeless guy where it went on for minutes. She was trying to chase him around the block. She's not a 'shy Trump supporter' . . . she's not a shy scumbag, full stop.

I was actually wrong. It's actually a bit more up front than that. :D

The only reason I remembered to take a picture of it right now is 'cos there's a pizzeria next to the jewellery store, and the bloke from the apartment is sitting right inside the pizzeria with his red maga hat on, pointing people to the apartment window.

You couldn't make this shit up.

Fuck Trump 2024 copy.jpg

Just listened to an interview with a former Republican. The guy said that there are only 2 parties with most people not liking either, but most Democrat voters don't really like the party, whereas Republican voters often feel more attached, and that in order to win the Democrats have to be unafraid to be nasty.

You would hope that a strong warning like this, reminding lawyers that several connected to the cases last time were disbarred or had their licenses suspended, would reduce the chance of filing silly court cases, but I suspect it'll not. 🤷‍♂️

A coalition of current and former local, state, and national bar association presidents published a letter on Monday night ahead of the election, reminding lawyers and the public that the courtroom is “not a theater for unsubstantiated claims”.

The letter cautions and urges fellow lawyers filing election-related lawsuits this election against presenting false information in their court filings.

“Filing election-related lawsuits without a solid factual and legal foundation endangers the very institutions lawyers are oathbound to defend” the letter states. “In a functioning democracy, lawsuits are not weapons to spread distrust – they are tools for justice.”

After the 2020 election, Donald Trump and his team of lawyers filed numerous lawsuits in various states, claiming fraud in the election.

The lawsuits were overwhelmingly unsuccessful and several lawyers connected to the cases were disbarred or had their licenses suspended, the coalition of lawyers wrote.

“These lawyers not only lost their licenses and tarnished their reputations, they also betrayed their communities and the American public,” the letter adds.

Great queue but how come no Black people? (maybe two, not sure)
No clue, I did see a lot of pictures where early voting opened and it was by far majority black voters. Also mail in votes are way up and historically they have fucked over black majority areas with less voting booths and insane length lines as a result. I would be mailing mine in rather than wait 8-10 hours especially where its very hot and water bottles to those waiting are banned, even more so for older folks who are more at risk.

The University of Arizona student population is only around 4% Black, about the same as the state population
Just googled this for my area and despite it being over 1000 voters for the county, it registers as 0%. Kinda makes sense, its a poor area and in 20 years of school I saw exactly one black dude, who was in my IT class, ruined the curve (by setting it too high) and lost at Mario Kart 8. Now where I am and have been for 12 years we appear to have got our first black family since I lived here. Racial diversity is so bad you pretty much see only non white people at restaurants, doctors, surgeons and pharmacists. Presumably cos its not worth it otherwise, why come here for crap money? Better opportunities in other places same as for anyone else, but with the the added potential risk of standing out and theres an unfortunate non zero % of the population who will take a pop at someone who stands out. Was bad enough when we were all glowed up going raving and drunk people shouting homophobic shit, they seemed to ignore the black gay dude who was 6'5 and built like a brick shithouse and great at doing UV makeup cos I was dreadful at it, at least it was shouting not attacking physically and we were in a large group. The minorities of various kinds automatically calmed us down to not cause problems but we were fuming inside til we reached the safety of the club til we learned to mimic them. Idk why people are so shitty.
