Local cafe to us, D’Jaconelli. Couple of mins walk. It’s just reopened after a fire. I was worried what features might have been destroyed, as it’s celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. Thankfully the main seating area and front counter seem to have survived well.

We had a great lunch of trad greasy spoon fare.
 
Earlier today, what used to be Stratford Rex.

I think I'd have been tempted to piss on the course with the rejoinder "Yeah? Well more fool you, I just did that for free" - then leg it, obviously.
Welcome to my childhood. We used to swim across from the weir and find a way in. Piss all over the place. We'd nick the odd ball, play Javelins with the flags and long jump in the bunkers then disappear back across the water.

Aye, I grew up working class and poor in Surrey, a county that at the time had more golf courses per head of population than anywhere else in England, it was like a manicured lawns version of the enclosures act, or at least that's how it seemed.
