Window cleaning and/or maintenance. They wouldn't lift much thoise cranes. the construction ones are taken away at the end of their usefulness.

Yeah this, a cradle can be attached for window cleaning or external maintenance/repairs.
Not feasible to use scaffolding above a certain height, hence the cranes.

I find it interesting what they keep on the roofs of these buildings. I presume the crane arms (like at a docks or something) were used in construction to get things here and it’s either too much hassle to remove or it’s useful to keep them there for future maintenance

Are you up the Shard or summat?

I've not been up there, but I imagine being at the top of the Shard is probably the best place in London cos it's the only place you can't see the fucking Shard :D 🤣

No it’s Horizon 22. I only go up the free ones, you need to book in advance though, tickets seem to go quickly.

I would hate to live surrounded by tall buildings but I do like going up them. I’m a tourist in this city. So it’s like people coming to where I live and having a cream tea or fish and chips I suppose :)

It’s a bit hazy today unfortunately but still enjoyable get to see London from a different perspective and perhaps the only one that gives a sense of the sheer size of this place. Big buildings like tower 42 and gherkin are dwarfed by this. Tower of London seemed huge as a kid and now appears insignificant

The shard is 310m high, the hill I can see from my front garden at home is half as tall again at 457m. So everything appears small eventually

A little group of Fallow, by the pool, about 200maway. Aware, cautious, but not on their toes. The Mighty Hunter, this Scion of Hronvitnir, has of course not noticed, because the useless cunt is chewing a stick...

It's absolutely nobbingly cold.

The Statue of Liberty is just down the road from me. It used to stand atop the old Liberty shoe factory but when the building was demolished to make way for student flats, they kept the statue and put it on a busy road junction that spans the river. The torch used to light up at night but I've not seen it lit for a while. The council needs to change the bulb.
