Welsh fight for independence from UK bolstered by ‘clown’ Boris Johnson

Ta. Interesting.

My posts were about groups organising beyond Plaid and whether that distinct Republican tradition (that had both leftist and more conservative tendencies) was undergoing any sort of a revival since I last looked.

You really can't blame Wales or Scotland for wanting independence. Who wouldn't want to get away from Boris and Brexit?
I'll only support Scottish independence if they agree to annex Yorkshire and North Derbyshire. If they do that I have no problem painting my face blue and screaming freedom at their command.

the Welsh voted in support of Brexit or did I read the results wrong

:hmm:

As did most of the poorest areas in England, the ones that actually benefit from the EU.

Ground into the dirt, fed a new bogey man, and desperate to be heard.

A few years under Brexit austerity with EU funds gone and little to none replaced by Westminster. Wales is going to rue the day.

I'm a card carrying member of the red wall. This is news to me.
Source?

There's a pro Indy march of fans down to Cardiff City Stadium every home match, Wales Football Fans for Independence seem pretty active, the Barry Horns very pro Indy, have seen Yes Cymru flags at the last few games I've been at. The culture around supporting Wales does seem to have swung very Indy minded ime.

Respond to increasing division by seeking increased division. Depressing. What would Welsh 'independence' even look like? It wouldn't really be independence, would it? That's not so different from the brexit 'take back control' nonsense.

Nah, they (Brexiters) will just blame the EU, Muslims, the poor, the Germans or whoever. That's the message that is going to be force-fed more than ever from now. Like foie gras gammon of hate, they will be bursting at the seams with it.

Worse than worms.

Where do you think the EU money comes from ffs.

Not sure what you are getting at. I'm not a Brexiter, just trying to rationalise why those that benefit from the EU most are the ones that wanted out. If fucking baffles me to be honest.

They resent being made dependent. Inherent nobility and all that.

I spoke to a few and for them it was an attitude of "surely anything has to be better than what we've got now."

They may get a few shiny EU-funded projects but that's not much use when your village has been decimated by the economy and there's fuck all hope of anything good happening on the horizon.

Wales has the most stitched up elite in GB. And their path into the elite is being welsh posh. Fire to the eisteddfods. Fire to the taffia. Fight for your class not some made up shit. Help the living, not your memoried dead.

If you know the desperation of some of the Valleys villages, they've pretty much given up anyway.

That's not what the word desperation means - that sounds more like resignation.

They actually had a pretty high turnout, didn't they?
