You already know that I have no intention of hyping up those consequences, I will watch it play out and will only change my tune if certain thresholds are crossed.

Trump does not care about undermining the powerful illusions that help a 'democracy' function, but the state apparatus does. Even the hugely irresponsible sections of the media have their limits on this front, and what Trump would ideally like to do is well beyond their comfort zone.

Trumpers letting off steam does not keep me awake at night. Even some serious but isolated incidents wont be enough to change that. I do have limits as to how far I will stick with this view but they are currently nowhere in sight.

Attitudes towards mass pandemic death are a strange thing, I dont find it easy to predict where that stuff will go.

In some ways the grotesque pandemic failures of a figurehead like Trump are actually convenient because they allow a simple narrative of administrative failure at the top, masking the long term systemic failures that left the USA particularly exposed in this pandemic.
