Memphis & Nashville, nowt else really. Sorry, in my earlier post re: river adjacent counties going for Democrats I meant Tennessee, not KentuckyWhat about Tennessee? Did Biden get many votes there?
What's the reason for this?Memphis & Nashville, nowt else really. Sorry, in my earlier post re: river adjacent counties going for Democrats I meant Tennessee, not Kentucky
For Dem voting counties along the Mississippi? Majority black populations - very fertile land, high slave numbers on plantations there, when the slaves were freed they couldn't afford to go anywhere so they stayed putWhat's the reason for this?
Plenty probably. But half of americans do not expect there to be a peaceful transition of power and everyone here seems to want to dismiss that flipantly too ( I do get that half of americans are very probably wrong).
Trump won't win the recount, but they will make constant and attempts to disrupt it, with court petitions, protests, the behaviour of their observers and so on.I'd start getting concerned if Trump won the Georgia recount, 'cos that would add a lot of fucking fuel to the conspiracy fire. Until then, I'll watch on with bemusement. (Like most people, I guess.)
Well yeah, it'd be concerning because if Trump wins that recount then they're blatantly fixing itI'd start getting concerned if Trump won the Georgia recount, 'cos that would add a lot of fucking fuel to the conspiracy fire. Until then, I'll watch on with bemusement. (Like most people, I guess.)
Why? Because it's Mississippi? I thought they had quite a big black population in places like Jackson
"In related news, a bear was observed shitting in the woods in western Alaska."
They just voted to change the flag a week ago... so they're marginally less embarrassing than before but not muchThe confederate flag was part of their state flag until very recently. Earlier this year I think. It's not the most progessive state
The ironic thing about Alaska is that they have an average $2000 per person payout to everyone living in the state. You don't have to do anything for it but live there.
Georgia removed it in 2001I thought they weren't the only state with it in their flag?
They were, although Georgia's (which used to incorporate the Battle Flag) is based on the Bars and Stars, which was the first Confederate flag. Not as controversial, though.I thought they weren't the only state with it in their flag?
Reading up on it, Georgia's awful flag was only adopted in 1956, before which the previous designs had also been based on the Stars & Bars. Mississippi had been proudly flying the battle flag since 1894, further cementing their status as Worst State in the UnionThey were, although Georgia's (which used to incorporate the Battle Flag) is based on the Bars and Stars, which was the first Confederate flag. Not sure it isn't a lot worse to be making that change a year after that incident with Rosa Parks' bum, tbh.Reading up on it, Georgia's awful flag was only adopted in 1956, before which the previous designs had also been based on the Stars & Bars. It's a fair point. Trying to look as cool as Mississippi is a mistakeNot sure it isn't a lot worse to be making that change a year after that incident with Rosa Parks' bum, tbh.

These days they do the suppressing way before it gets to the stage of counting votes. Bit obvious otherwise.Of course. Republicans are dab hands at voter suppression and all that other schtick.
Gone down massively in recent years, hasn’t it? And it’s distribution has changed to be far more in favour of the federal governmentThe ironic thing about Alaska is that they have an average $2000 per person payout to everyone living in the state.
