Presidential pardon only counts for federal offences. State offences aren't covered.I think the idea was that he could temporarily step down (?) and have Pence pardon him, then step up again (batshit but... ). Is that, specifically, not legal at state level, then?

trump seeing any kind of justice is a liberal wank fantasy and you should probably forget about it happening.
Basically, he's not the President of New York and has no power over their legislation or justice systemI think the idea was that he could temporarily step down (?) and have Pence pardon him, then step up again (batshit but... ). Is that, specifically, not legal at state level, then?
Not looking good for the UK.
Powerful people have all sorts of advantages everywhere but not always invulnerability.because of power and how it works in the united states. and most other places tbf. but especially there.
The State of New York didn't win the election thoughBecause it's kind of an established democratic norm that the winners of an election don't immediately set about imprisoning their opponents, it's one of the reasons why people got so upset about Trump's Hillary 'lock her up' chant in 2016
Mike Pence has been conspicuous by his absence the last few days.
Escaped Berlin before the fall while Trump fiddles in his (sand) bunker.
Biden will probably avoid commenting on it thoThe State of New York didn't win the election though
I mean, it may not happen, idk, but my point is that New York State will do what they please with the investigation
Do you think his views will have changed?I was glad to see that clip is from January - Biden getting infected with the coronavirus at a scrum full of unmasked reporters the same day he got elected would be unfortunate, and strongly reminiscent of the Trump administration.
I think he'll avoid any mention of his predecessor from now onwardsBiden will probably avoid commenting on it tho

AHEMNegotiating with the Swedish.
Ford pardoned Nixon for everything he did - known or unknown at the time of the pardon - while president. So no. They do, however, according to Ford at least, involve an admission of guilt. But this isn't going to happen with Trump. His problems will come from elsewhere.Plus dont pardons only work after you've been charged and convicted?
Tbh I'm not convinced it would be the most productive use of time or set a great precedent if he did go to jail. I mean I'd love to see him hit with masses of fines but sending him down could do a lot more harm than good especially in the highly febrile atmosphere America is in now. And it would also keep him in the news.
