US election 2020 thread

christ - who is doing the count in georgia? Is it just some uncle jessie type old timer pulling the voting slips out one at a time - "Oh lookie here- its a vote for mister biden" then shuffling off to an abacus at the other end of the room.

Yes, thats him. I watched him on the tv earlier. He was very tired.

I take it that the rate of erosion indicates that eventual cross-over is possible/likely?
i think i just understood what this post means! But what time will that be clear enough to be called

This is my main worry now. They know what a lot of people seem to want now. Just package it up in a way the middle ground doesn’t find quite so distasteful.
I dunno. The core of trump's actual actions - tax breaks for the rich, more borrowing, erode civil rights, fuck the environment, bollocks to the poor - was classic Republican. tbh the biggest break from classic Republicanism was picking fights and trade wars with the likes of China. It's rather un-Republican to be anti-'free trade'. I can see them reverting back the the nasty shit they have long done. It's bad enough.

Can imagine they're under severe pressure from observers from both parties to get everything spot on. That would slow the pace down enormously I'd imagine

I watched a bit of CNN covering Chatham County (where most of the remaining uncounted votes are) and you're not far off. About three people in a crap office, and if ballots need adjudication there isn't anyone on site, they have to get someone to drive the ballots to another location where there's someone actually qualified to do it.

Clearly we need to get Brad Raffensperger on the case. (((Brad)))

ETA I've just discovered Brad's a Republican. He's dead to me now. :(

Erie County PA, the bellwether county that has picked the Pennsylvania winner every election for decades and visited by both candidates in the campaign, is about to flip. Joe Biden 542 votes behind

So this guy is saying all these things are somehow the Democrats, whereas either they're not happening or they're things that are being done by the GOP, given as the are the actual government and all, and therefore the only ones capable of 'weaponising' government departments or enacting 'state control of the media' :hmm:

State run media? They do know their guy is still head of state right?

Just out of interest, how come none of the news agencies have called Alaska yet?
  • nobody cares
  • everybody's forgotten about it
  • waiting for mail votes like everywhere else
Seriously though, looking at their numbers it does seem like even if Biden wins every single remaining vote he's still gonna struggle to win there

Data is from the 2016 election but I thought some of the urban posters who are into data stuff might like this.
