19 - Black Country, New Road - Ants From Up There

Related to Black Midi and New Road I believe. Mildly mathy theatrical pop rock. Owes something to the old rock in opposition movement. Great that this stuff is finding an audience.
This is still #1 on RYM for the year.

Weyes Blood might have come out a bit too late to make too many people's end of year lists, but I'd put that in the top 10-ish.

We've had all the ones that I really rate and expected to do well now, unless there's a really surprisingly strong showing for Drug Church?

This Beths album would probably have made my list if I'd got around to listening to it before now, tbf.

So was Skinty FIA the most universal vote then? Did anyone have it at number one? Was my 8.

Feels like there's more pop music in the list this year than there has been for a while - the contrast between wild avant-rock and radio 6 faves in the top five is particularly dramatic, but it's reflected all the way down the list.

Cheers Knotted! If I'd have put chat pile in my top few would it have been enough, or were Fontaines too far ahead?
