The Tour Of France 2021

Team Fracking are the last rim brake recusants.

For Alpecin just holding yellow for a couple of days would be job done for the tour, they can chuck everything at the opening couple of days. QS - in spite of what they’re saying - must have to be thinking of the GC with JA.
They’ve brought a sprint team so will be looking for at least one stage win from Merlier or Philipsen. They could end up with more stage wins than any other team.

The Jumbo Visma bikes are something.

They claim to be the first team ever to used coloured tyres in the pro peleton but I'm pretty sure AG2R did when they used Kuota in the late noughties.

Ouch. La Course coverage starts at 730am. Could be interesting as they go up that hill the men finish on four times. It’ll be hard to beat van der Breggen on that stage.
The men’s race is less predictable. There’s four or five heavily fancied riders and sone me could do a flyer while the favourites are marking each other.

I wish there was a tubular tyre meter to say how many riders use them every day. I'm not paying too much attention to the wheel and tyre PR until we get to the point where time loss from punctures becomes a potential thing and the mechanics sneakily put the unbranded tub wheels on. Then we can have the annual 'tubs-aren't-dead-yet' discussion, ideally illustrated by a furious rider at the roadside throwing his bike in a ditch. We might even see someone using the same wheels as me. But it's unlikely. Not even Team Fracking can afford them.🤑

So does G have a realistic hope of yellow this year? Is IGD’s best hope with Carapaz or TGH? Will Cav win a stage? Is it between Pogacar and Roglic? Thoughts please!

G has a chance, assuming he doesn’t crash. Which is a pretty big assumption to be fair.

TGH I think is there to support others, Carapaz might be their best bet for yellow if he’s on form

Cav may be about to make history. He’s got access to the best lead out team in the business and his form seems to be back. But then he might just crash again. There’s a lot of good sprinters this year so any wins will be hard fought.

Yes, it’s likely to be between Pog and Rog.

I think if Cav manages a single stage win I might just cry. It’s expecting a lot but as you say he has the best lead out team. If he makes it to Paris I’d be surprised but it’ll be emotional!

Go on then, what wheels do you have?

I thought you'd never ask! Lightweight Fernweg 80. Got them second hand for cheap. Haven't even fitted them yet. I just stare at them.

'For cheap' :D

I think I'd probably get myself a trail bike if I had that kind of cash hanging around. Bit daft unless you're actually racing. Bit daft even if you're racing tbh.
