or even once a weekyou probably can't eliminate mass shootings but getting them down to every decade is probably the best you can hope for.
if america got it down to once a year that would be pretty good going

i find that over the past few years i've accumulated seven or eight multitools, a decent swiss army knife, three different leathermans (leathermen?), a gerber one and a boker one. obviously they share some component features but the simple fact of the matter is i've overbought. i can't help thinking that the lady in the picture might have better limited herself to a couple of pistols, a couple of shotguns, a couple of assault rifles and so on, as her impressive collection must occupy more time gathering dust than being actually used. maybe she could lose the stripey monstrosity on the left, some of the revolvers and pistols and a couple of shotguns and replace them with a barratt m107a1 .50 sniper rifle, which would complement the other weapons she possesses while adding a capability i don't see represented among her guns
when they should say living by the sword. fortunately she'd be able to taken out anyone with a sword before they were near enough to pose a genuine threatYou know what they say about "living with the sword" ...
It’s just become part of culture now. I remember how angry Columbine made me but now it’s just business as usual. The NRA nuts have actually stopped saying ‘thoughts and prayers’ and ‘now is not the time’, etc because they’ve won. Waste of time. It was Sandy Hook which made me realise I shouldn’t bother with an emotional response to this stuff.

Yep. Like most right wing positions. Designed to make people give up. Subverting democratic norms and checks and balances. That part of the political spectrum which enables and suits the psychopath.Get what you're saying.
And that causes sadness, too. The idea that the loss of human life is met with indifference.
Guess that's what these racist fucks want, for people to give up. Take it all in their stride.
Honestly it’s such an elephant in the room thing (more guns more shootings) i just find it…I’m numb. I think the reason the NRA isn’t sending out the ‘thoughts and prayers/not the right time to discuss the issue’ in too high profile recently is i think even they recognize its become such a cliché it doesn’t have any resonance anymore. When i get into an argument with a civilian gun nut i always use the example of the bolt gun that is used to kill cattle. The one in No Country for Old Men. It does exactly what a gun does (drives a piece of steel into an animal to stun/kill it). But its not been fetishized like an AR-15. It doesn’t have a trigger guard over which you can lay a straight finger to indicate you might know what you're doing.Fucking piece of shit facillitated by the piece of shit firearms lobby.
Buffalo shooting: Ten dead in racially motivated attack at New York state store
An 18-year-old is charged over the New York state attack, which is being investigated as a racial hate crime.www.bbc.co.uk

Totally. I actually got threatened by a US border security guard at Peace Arch for smoking a cigarette by a fucking permanent concrete and metal ashtray IN THE BORDER CROSSING. A lot of my heroes are American but that Wild West mentality needs a look at. I forget where I read this but I feel it has some truth to it. The USA was born from war. Canada was born from negotiation.I see this

and think that a gun will not stop her being groomed!!
They will groom her by using the guns.
But really, the idea that a gun will make you untouchable is total nonsense.
There are times when I think they making the gun culture main stream.
And then, I see the potential revoke of abortion, and think that Christianity and guns for all.......
So, so glad that there is a border between us and them.

The whole grooming thing ("ok groomer") is gaining traction as a slur to just about everyone who opposes the likes of DeSantis and his Putinesque/Section 28 bill.
Expecting more and more attacks on LGBT people as this goes on.
Not odd really. I was going to Seattle on the Greyhound from Vancouver. First of the bus so I asked the driver where I could have a smoke while I waited for the bus to fill back up. The security guy yelled at me 'SIR. YOU'RE BREAKING THE LAW'. With his hand on his piece BTW. Totally disproportionate response. On reflection you're right about compromise. The history of European colonization of North America is blood soaked. Just feel the soil was a bit more blood soaked South of the border.
JC is the only Urbanite I've actually met in real life. We shared a pizza and a few pints when I first landed here 10 years ago. Really nice guy. While I was growing up, we got new neighbours.
The family was American, he was a border customs person.
Nasty man!!!!
Going back a long way to when JC was posting, there were many comments about how the US customs behaved. Thre were many examples of abuse.
It would seem that nothing has really changed.

No clue what you are on about. I'm Canadian and don't really care about your laws.
Also, not sure what you are on about with LGBT - it's an American girl - but ok - yeah team - what ever.....
when virginia tech happened limbaugh said something to the effect of "how far do liberals think they can push people before they react like this".Right wing MAGA over here already blaming "the left" for it
