Grandma Death

Reconfiguring & Reconstructing
Ok...so yeah its a little bit early. But Im on the wine. And Im super excited. This year I promise to not get too angry/enraged and post stupid shit. I promise to not let my fury spill onto the thread. I will act with decorum. Take this declaration please and hold me to it!

Anyway. What an amazing Autumn International for some teams. Clean sweeps for wales and Ireland. Controversial TMO decisions. But some really memorable games-some superb tries and most of all-the gap between the SH and NH is closing.

2019 6N promises to be a blinder. Least of all because Bendeus will join me at least one of these fixtures to get absolutely destroyed.

So here are the fixtures:

ROUND ONE

France v Wales, Friday Feb 1, 8.00pm (UK & Ireland), Paris

Scotland v Italy, Saturday Feb 2, 2.15pm, Edinburgh

Ireland v England, Saturday Feb 2, 4.45pm, Dublin

ROUND TWO

Scotland v Ireland, Saturday Feb 9, 2.15pm, Edinburgh

Italy v Wales, Saturday Feb 9, 4.45pm (UK & Ireland), Rome

England v France, Sunday Feb 10, 3.00pm, Twickenham

ROUND THREE

France v Scotland, Saturday Feb 23, 2.15pm (UK & Ireland), Paris

Wales v England, Saturday Feb 23, 4.45pm, Cardiff

Italy v Ireland, Sunday Feb 24, 3.00pm (UK & Ireland), Rome

ROUND FOUR

Scotland v Wales, Saturday Mar 9, 2.15pm, Edinburgh

England v Italy, Saturday Mar 9, 4.45pm, Twickenham

Ireland v France, Sunday Mar 3.00pm, Dublin

ROUND FIVE

Wales v Ireland, Saturday Mar 16, 2.45pm, Cardiff

England v Scotland, Saturday Mar 16, 5.00pm Twickenham

So you know the drill. One wildcard selection. One likely

LIKELY

WILDCARD

Wales (Slam)
Ireland

England
France
Italy

We are embarrassingly rich in depth. Our two toughest fixtures are at home. Im going for a wales win on either. We may drop a game against Ireland. But I think Ireland will drop a game against Scotland. We will beat England at home. After today. I both Ireland and England at home dont look a scary prospect.

I'm quietly confident. If Wales start with a win in Paris then anything can happen. Don't know if my nerves are going to be able to handle the England and Ireland games.

Absolutely. No particular preference. Where do you want to do it?
Swansea of course. Gaff is open mate. Loads of room. We can do a nice twonky middle class pub on gower. Probably in Bishopston. Then when it's done head to wind Street for a fight and a kebab. [emoji23] Or we can stay put listening to the anglicised rabble talking about schools and property prices. We would need to get ruined mind if we stay put. I actually spent a weekend climbing snowdon with some of the aforementioned and nearly ended out pushing them off the peak.

How about the France game? It's all about the momentum and we're traditionally slow starters. Buck this and we may be on course for pretending we're going to win the 'slam for a while before the Irish put us in our place....

Yeah can't do that. I've got the bambinos and she's away so no room for manoeuvre. Super Saturday is probably best day for. France can't do. Italy is my sons birthday. England awkward. And Scotland she's away again I've got my kids. I may be able to do England at a push. Other than that. Super Saturday

Lol. Of this dizzying set of options I choose...........................................

Super Saturday!

Irish squad. Plenty of talent. Good to see Beirne in there. Ross Byrne and Carbery both had good games at the weekend so maybe 10 isn't something to worry about after all. I'd like to see Chris Farrell get some game time too.

A bit thin on scrum halves after Murray. Cooney hasn't proven himself at international level and Blade is talented but I'd like Marmion covering the bench for the Scotland game. I'd like to see Tom Farrell get game time evem though we're well stocked with centres, and I'd have liked to see Max Deegan get selected over Conan who to my limited eye is a bit of a flat track bully, granted he was good against Toulouse.

Very strong team, can't see a slam though.

Good England squad. Great to see Robson finally getting capped
Do you think Jones will go down the Te'o, Manu Tuilagi, and Cokanasiga selection route that Brian Moore and Mick Cleary want him to do? I can see the attraction as there probably isn't an as powerful centre combination as that especially with JC on the wing, but Te'o can't pass, can Tuilagi? If they both can't, isn't suggesting that Dublin at least England will settle on the power game?

Predictions

1. Ireland (No slam)
2. Wales
3. England
4. Scotland
5. France
6. Italy

Actually no reason that the table should turn out this way, with the Vinipola boys back inform I suspect England will be much stronger. I think their backrow balance will be weak, but it nearly always is and a lot depends on their centres. I've been unfair to Scotland mainly because I didn't see their autumn games, and I have a suspicion that they can only play one way, which is exciting attacking rugby but can they slog it out in Feb? France could be great be probably awful, however unlike previous years they will be fit. Wales, if they had all their players would be in with a shout for the slam as their last game is against us in Cardiff.

Who knows but I can't wait.

I think the fixtures fall very favourably for Wales. If the welsh front row were a bit stronger I would tip an Ireland Wales Grand Slam shoot out and a Wales win in Cardiff (the best game of the 2 year cycle for me).

Why are England preparing for playing on a manic windy freezing night in Dublin, in front of a stadium full of baying pissed up paddies by relaxing in a sunny Portugese hideaway?

Henshaw in for Kearney, which given Robnoxious' poor form seems like a smart choice. I think fullback may be Henshaw's best position, will be interesting to see how he goes. The plus point is that Ringrose and Aki are our centers. That Manu Bundee match up will be interesting.

Can't believe it all starts tomorrow...

Probably less chance of injuries ahead of the tournament (particularly muscles during warm-up / cool down).

Not like they'll have forgotten what cold weather is like, they're professional rugby players.
