Saudi Arabia chosen to head human rights panel whilst sentencing citizen to crucifixion

It's a reflection of MBS's fear and weakness rather than of his arrogance.

Well, "The Monarchy" in reality until the rise of MBS was a royal oligarchy with pwer distributed between a large group of leading princes. There are lots of these princes who have now been edged out and resent this. The coup attempt in Riyadh the early Summer, is a reflection of this;as was the criticism of the King by his younger brotherPressTV-Saudi king's brother mulling self-exile after fiery remarks

“Why are you saying this about Al Saud?“ Ahmed can be heard as saying on a video that has since gone viral. “What does the whole of the Al Saud family have to do with this? There are certain individuals who are responsible. Don’t involve anyone else.”

The attacks on princes (the hotel detentions and killing of a least one prince), and the attack on Kashogghi who is close to other factions of the family are reactions to this threat.

Today is Dhul Hijja. On the 10th of Dhul Hijja, Eid al Adha is celebrated. It is the day when Muslims slaughter an animal, generally a sheep, a goat or a camel, remembering the sacrifice of Ibrahim (RA). Ibrahim (RA) intended to slaughter his son Ismail (RA) on Allah’s orders, but Allah replaced Ismail with a sheep just when Ibrahim was about to go ahead with the sacrifice. This submissive act of faith by Ibrahim (RA) as an integral part of Hajj as it signifies trust and total surrender to the will of the Almighty.

I know its animals again; 800 vets to oversee slaughter of over 1m animals during Hajj

It's also direct theft from the Old Testament. Isaac - Wikipedia

It seems to me there is only one way that the Turkish could have audio and video of the torture and killing of the journalist and that is if they had installed listening equipment in the Saudi embassy.

I don't even like hash browns, can't see why they're so popular.

There was something floating round about his apple watch wasn't there? Suspecting foul play he'd given his phone to his fiancee and left the watch on record. If this was the case and they'd been too ham-fisted to check/remove it she'd have had the glorious technicolor audio and video of his demise captured from his own wrist.

I wouldn't trust Turkey anymore than I would trust Saudi. The stories regarding the disappearance are a bit conflicting. I suspect the film Turkey has I'd the CCTV footage of khashoggi entering the building.
If they had more than would it not have been broadcast by now?

The radio earlier suggested the khashoggi may have recorded or transmitted what had happened from his smart watch. Let's hope so.

Vanishingly unlikely of course. In any event apparently arms manufactures in the states have already petitioned Trump to ensure that the flow of cash doesn't stop in the event of any sanctions so I don't know what Trump means by 'severe punishment' should it prove that Saudi is responsible for the disappearance/murder of Khashoggi.

Saudi Arabia says it will hit back at 'threats' over Jamal Khashoggi

Which is why MBS falling victim to some form of accident is the most likely outcome, especially with them (him) throwing threats like that around now.

Joint statement on the disappearance of Jamal Khashoggi by Foreign Ministers from the UK, France and Germany

Germany, the United Kingdom and France share the grave concern expressed by others including HRVP Mogherini and UNSG Guterres, and are treating this incident with the utmost seriousness. There needs to be a credible investigation to establish the truth about what happened, and – if relevant – to identify those bearing responsibility for the disappearance of Jamal Khashoggi, and ensure that they are held to account.

However

We encourage joint Saudi-Turkish efforts in that regard, and expect the Saudi Government to provide a complete and detailed response. We have conveyed this message directly to the Saudi authorities.

Of course they are. They will of course have no problem getting into a heavily guarded embassy, killing someone and getting out again.
