Russian military plants/installations 'accidentally' catching fire

Would stuff really stop working in such short order? I guess if health and safety isn't top of the list it probably would

Logistics chains are already under strain outside of this conflict, production and research plants with moving parts machinery eat through supplies. If your a large computer firm you go through hard disks and other kit like crazy to supply yourself or customers. Russia's not getting high end kit, a lot of which is still manufactured by the embargoing nations, for the most part so it's not stuff that can be bodged for long.

I could envisage a situation where a system was getting flakey, and dependent on employees giving a shit and manually sorting it out, then they maybe start giving a bit less of a shit and things start going wrong, and they get more apathetic, and more goes wrong, and...BOOM.

That one was Ukrainian artillery, so not very contentious. At least half a dozen military tanker lorries destroyed in the strike too, which is useful.

It’s the fires in the middle of Russia which are more interesting, but some are likely just routine factory fires in a country without a stellar safety record for such things.

I find it hard to conclude much without more information. Like how often similar facilities were catching fire a year ago.

Even then, some kinds of facilities may have increased output etc.

Not in a position to do a multi-variate analysis myself..

This is better footage of an army recruitment office conflagration. Don't think this one is Ukrainian artillery. 🔥

They really need to look into self-igniting MCs :hmm:. Sulphuric acid in the fuel, and a nice bit of potassium chlorate in a twist of paper on the neck. Saves all that messing around with lighting, and those risky overarm throws :)

A fire broke out on a Russian Navy support ship, the Vsevolod Bobrov, that was heading for Snake Island. The crew were evacuated and the ship redirected to Sevastopol.

"A fire broke out" :D

It sounds like something Hale and Pace would do..."Hmm, very...FLAMMABLE ship you got here, guv. Shame if anything were to happen to it..." <looks around innocently>

No surprise here...

Reuters is reporting that Ukrainian forces have set on fire a Russian ship in the Black Sea:

Ukrainian forces have damaged a modern Russian navy logistics ship in the Black Sea, setting it on fire, a spokesman for the Odesa regional military administration in southern Ukraine said on Thursday.

Spokesman Serhiy Bratchuk said in an online post that the Vsevolod Bobrov had been struck near Snake Island, the scene of renewed fighting in recent days, but did not give details. The tiny island is located near Ukraine’s sea border with Romania. LINK

On a similar note, some people have been speculating that there has been an increase in fires at US food processing plants and farms in the last year and various conspiracy theories about them being deliberate to cause food shortages.

This claims the number of fires is standard and there has not been an increase.

I'd be very sceptical of any claims of Russian involvement with that frankly
