Rugby Union 2017-18

Well they're opening some daylight now since half time. I haven't got streaming as am at work but just keeping a check on the scores

ETA: really pulling away now, as they often do in the 2nd half. 40-11 at the mo

French very very much a team that plays by their hearts. When confident and on song will blitz a lot of sides, but when down they can look embrassing even.

Good games coming the Irish and English, think they will do well, but hopefully lose by a couple of points though :)

ETA: see the Japan-Italy score? 34-17 to Japan!!

Be interesting to see how Joey Carbery gets on.

very well I think. He obviously got the temperment for a big game. A lot depends on how good our loose forwards are in the game, else he may be able to run the back line well for the Irish

That kiwi game is almost embarassing, for a side like France to fold like that

ETA: pacing the ticket office waiting for 11am start!!!! :)

Beauden Barrett is the best player on the planet, his brothers ain’t bad and Damian mckenzie can feel very unlucky as he’s probably the second best player in the world but sits on the bench before coming on and destroying the opposition.

Other than that, yes flypanam, they’re a bit rubbish.

Disappointed Allan Alaalatoa is out for us and replaced by Tom Robertson. Like to see how Allan would have got on in the international stage, whereas Tom's already a known performer.

Lookig forward to timu to see if we have unearthed a decent no 8 at last

missed the All Blacks game but got the Ireland Aus game on now.

I have man crushes on both Beauden and McKenzie

His place kicking is shit. But his reading of the game without parallel.

They also seem to have uncovered a new brilliant winger in the shape of their hooker.

Yeah two excellent players but have you watch super rugby the last couple of years the quality has dropped. Their front row is not a patch on that 2011 team. Their back row lacks the menace of McCaw read and kaino in their prime. But feel free to believe that their dominance will continue.

Ardie savea can't even make the starting lineup. That's not a bad bunch of loosies.

I know the other game is going on, but I'm sat in a cafe in Italy and can't watch it so I'm just musing. But a topic for another time. How are the all blacks so dominant. For so long.. A country of a few million. What do they do differently to produce these players?

Hansen and co wasn’t impressed with Savea in Europe last autumn, they felt he lacked aggression in the tackle nor that he had enough impact. They have an unusual mix of rugby been the only sport that really counts, a good mix of ethnic groups with that huge islander population. Who can challenge them? well there are 4 sides in Europe that are moving in the right direction. The reason being that domestic rugby is pretty good. I’ve enjoyed pro14 more than super rugby for the last two years. The rugby championship is pretty staid and the 6N is getting better.

The best players on the pitch today weren't islanders

Not talking about today but in general how that contributes to producing players.

Anyway Henshaw’s not doing well today.

Another Gatland moan but why oh why is he playing Seb Davies at 6? This guy is our great hope in the second row when Alun Wyn Jones retires, and he insists on playing him out of position. Fucking prat. Anyway, the Pumas are going to stuff this Welsh pack.

Just gonna day that the Aussies fully deserved their win today. Our backs across the board were awful. Henshaw was bad, Aki followed the script to the letter and trucked it up all day. Kearney was unfocused and off.

I thought the officiating in both biz and aus games was poor. I’m perplexed as to why the two kiwis stayed on the pitch and how the tmo and his magic camera can make big decisions?

So you’re blaming the kiwi dominance for 100 years on the refs?

Fitzpatrick and McCaw were both convincing to refs yes but that doesn’t explain how they beat the shit out of pretty much every side that comes their way.

England Saffas game is excellent so far. 15 minutes of near perfect rugby from England and now a Saffa resurrection
