Purnell: more attacks on the unemployed, etc

Being stuck on community service might help quite a few people id have thought. Anything that breaks down the isolation and boredom might not be such a bad thing.

Yep being treated like a criminal without having committed a crime is going to do wonders for people's self esteem.

Why should people not get paid for fulltime working?

You do realise that people are going to be expected to work fulltime, seemingly with no limit to the amount of hours they are doing for free. Actual criminals at least get told how many hours they are going to do. This govt will actually punish law abiding unemployed people more than real criminals.

You know I have never been bored on the dole, or isolated. That's not to say these types don't exist but I fink they are few and far between. Especially with Sainsburys doing a 2 litre bottle of cider for £1.18 these days:D

This says it all really. We are now to blame for the FAILINGS of capitalism and can be treated like enemies of the system.

Splitting hairs. Well, the employer won't pay for them so they will be getting free labour, paid for by the taxpayer.

£50 something pounds for a 38/39 hour working week is not 'paying'.

Odd how many people think you are after reading your offerings, though, isn't it?
Ever wondered why that is? :)

As shown below your post. People seem very confused dont they.
A lot of them have bought into what they are told by people in the media and education about what left or right wing people should think.

People without much imagination or common sense ( of which there are more than a few on U75) are more likely to fall for such shite.

Nu Labour apologist is a good one as well, in a completely missing the point sort of way............

If somebody says Prince Charles killed Diana and you disagree does that make you an apologist for the monarchy....Sorry but its just moronic.

As for trev/attica what exactly do they mean by a Tory? Is it anybody who fails to subscribe to mayday magazine?
I am for a major redistribution of wealth and power internationally and nationally, how does that fit in with being a Tory?

So what are you then, come on tell us!!

An Internationalist and a Socialist. Somebody who rejects the idea that the Hysterical middle class left are anything but an obstacle to the battle for Socialism. Liars frauds and hypocrites...

A socialist who is in favour of the fascist dole reforms??????
Who you gonna vote for then?

Not to me.
To me people appear to be very much not confused, they appear to know exactly what they believe, whether they're wrong or right.
A lot of them have bought into what they are told by people in the media and education about what left or right wing people should think.
"A lot of them"?
Odd how you're all "up the workers" one minute, and the next you're telling me they're sheep.
People without much imagination or common sense ( of which there are more than a few on U75) are more likely to fall for such shite.
That would depend on how you define "imagination" and "common sense".

But there's no comparison between your monarchy example, and the fact that you've bigged up NL policies in the past, is there? :)

Why not ask them?
Is it anybody who fails to subscribe to mayday magazine?
If that were the case the whole world could be called "tory".
I am for a major redistribution of wealth and power internationally and nationally, how does that fit in with being a Tory?
See, you're missing the point, aren't you? The point is not that you're a tory, it's that people have drawn the conclusion that you may be a tory from reading your posts, hence my question to you asking why you might think that was the case. :)

You support nu labour. They are not socialist. I can't believe anyone is still labouring under that misapprehension.

Perhaps thats cos your confused too?

"A lot of them"?
Odd how you're all "up the workers" one minute, and the next you're telling me they're sheep.

Where have i made either a statement saying " Up the workers" or " all the workers are sheep"?
I think that most workers are far less sheep like than the hysterical left[/
B]

Well i think there is. As for bigging up NL policies i have simply pointed out to the hysterical mc left that NL have not been all bad

I think the thing is that a lot of the people who call me a Tory etc etc. Really are soft Tories themselves. Most of them would absulutely hate to see genuine majority rule. Trevhagl seems to think the limited democracy we have is already far too much for people less clever than him.

And what exactly do you think ive said that is right wing tory on this thread?
I think the benefit system is a joke. I think that people who can work should work. I think that some people doctors seem to think are unfit for work, could work. I would like to see more people working and less on the scrapheap.
I dont think any of those ideas are anti socialist or right wing do you?

Why do you support them, having described yourself as a Socialist.

As ive said id like to see a massive redistribution of wealth and power.
I have voted Labour and for the Greens and this year i even voted LIBERAL!!!! for london mayor.
I dont think New Labour are Socialist or are about to bring about the changes id like to see. But they have done somethings that as a Socialist that im glad to see. doubling spending on Health and Education is not all bad is it???
But of course i agree a lot of the money has been misspent...And before any of the more hysterical morons on here mentions PFI, i am against it....But really it is a small part of what has gone wrong. There is a huge problem with corruption in the public and voluntary sector in this country.
New Labour put the money on the table, but they were not able to stop the parasites wasting so much of it.

I am not a great supporter of New Labour but there are things they have done that are good....They have made practical differences that keyboard warriors and publishers of mayday magazine etc never could or would.

AS long as this applies to the Royal family or the neuveux aristocracy such as Coleen MClaughlan I would agree;
"I think that people who can work should work" for the mimimum wage.

I do not think socialism has anything to do with encouraging people to make profit for bosses. Infact, it has nothing to do with it.

What I think is a joke is a bloke on the internet declaring he knows better than "those doctors signing people off sick".

Ah, but it is different this time, it will be private companies who are largely going to be paid by results who are involved.

if thats the case then they will have to pay more employment coaches at the moment they dont employ enough people. Claimants on New Deal schemes get very little help and advice, basically all they get is a computer and left to get on with it. Staff are busy on the computer and doing paperwork and dealing with other things. No checks are made either as to what people have applied for and how they are getting on. Reviews are often not done.

So if they are to be paid on results they will have to get their finger out.

i cant see it happening it gets mentioned from time to time.

What about insurance as well and health and safety issues.

Some people genuinely lose their jobs and cant find another one especially hard for an older person to find work now. Why should they do community work? I know someone who has written to our local Mp to put this point forward they were laid off 2 years ago. Wonder what the MP will reply?
