Purnell: more attacks on the unemployed, etc

I truly believe the whole edifice is begining to crumble here.
Lets face it the economic system is fucked
Food is out of control.
Energy is out of control
Food riots are on the increase throughout the world
Water wars are just around the corner
Eco system is fucked

Politicians haven't a clue how to solve one of these issues never mind all of them!!

Yall have a nice day now yeer!!

i cant see it happening it gets mentioned from time to time.

What about insurance as well and health and safety issues.

Some people genuinely lose their jobs and cant find another one especially hard for an older person to find work now. Why should they do community work? I know someone who has written to our local Mp to put this point forward they were laid off 2 years ago. Wonder what the MP will reply?

The insurance issue is an interesting one. What if someone has an accident on one of these 'schemes'? Who's liable.

I also think it's a nasty deal for the over fifties who may have been layed off. Everyone knows age discrimination happens. Mind you, everyone knows discrimination against the disabled and mothers happens, but not in fantasy nu labour land, I suppose.

The government keeps telling us that these reforms are to 'empower the people'. Total bollocks!
All they care about is cutting the bill regardless of the social costs so that come the next election there is a little in the kitty to bribe the middle classes in the South of England where all the swing constituencies are.

They don't' care if you are over 50, under 25 or in pain. Its all about power.

An answer to a totally different question than the one that was asked?

What I think is a joke is a bloke on the internet declaring he knows better than "those doctors signing people off sick".

And in turn i find it funny how people like you doff your caps to doctors.
As i said before the people who want to describe me as a Tory etc are soft Tories themselves. The kind of people who say of course they would love social change erm some time in the future just not now eh....

I'll take more notice of a doctor on the subject of someone's illness than some unqualified plank on a messageboard. Odd that?

I mean after all doctors have to train for years to practice he can condemn them in five seconds

Didnt realise that id condemned all doctors. Must say i think there are huge differences in the doctors ive known. Some have been great and some have been lazy stuck up shits.
But none of them have really had a great idea about who could work, as their own work experience was quite limited.

Just as well they've got you to point out the errors of their ways. Of course, doctors don't know anything about work, all that poncing about with stethascopes...

You talked about Qualifications.....What Qualification do Doctors have to say they know who can and can't work?

Ain't got a clue what happened above - i selected Baldwins comment about people who can work should - and the wrong one came up!

Why is the emphasis on manual labour, when they will be dealing with a lot of people with physical problems and possibly a large number of the over fifties?

'Depends' on what, exactly? Which particular hour in which particular quarterly cycle, maybe?

Baldwin, would you work full time, say 40-hour week, for £1.50 an hour, as a career move?

Depends what the Job was, where i lived, what my personal circumstances were etc.

Any manual labour that can finish such people off before they become a permanent burden on the NHS can only be a good thing surely? For some reason we're not allowed to go around with a machine gun mowing down those who are of no use to the economy, but we can let the nice people in industry profit from their suffering and (hopefully) hasten their demise. The best part about this plan, of course, is that we can actually claim to be helping these people by saving them from a life of coping with their health problems in a dignified manner. Everyone's a winner ;)

Thats right Frank anybody who thinks disabled people can work is a nazi....yeah....

Yes, they should be paid the going rate for the job, not subsidized by the state at about £1 an hour (or less!!) to let whomever employs them do it for nowt.

Why is it acceptable to force people to work fulltime (sorry fulltime activity) and not pay them the going rate. Is that socialism?

I fucking hate that cunt Purnell. Every since Clinton promised to end 'welfare as we know it' parties of the right and "left" have been climbing over each other to trample on the universalist principles of the welfare state. They do this in order to appeal to the middle class swing voters (i.e filth like Keyboard Jokey) - deemed vital to securing victory in any election.

The solution? Next time you see a Daily Mail reader - push them down a flight of stairs.

Ha ha well lets hope they get mugged by a desperate charver who's had his dole stopped!

It would be illegal to pay someone 1/5 of the minimum wage??

Ah but the devious cunts are calling it "activity" not work. Just like the fascist fuckers in America torture prisoners (technically) outside the US to get round human rights law. Bastards.
