Has anyone got any decent sources exploring why tf Liz named him Charles?

Of all the available royal names, there’s something particularly dark about that.

Maybe she thought he may lose his head or hide up a tree!
I understand if he is crowned he will be George VII.

Not really - Henry is far worse a name for a king, statistically speaking (the first watched his son and his legacy die, the second watched his sons fight him and then died, the third was weak and overly religious and almost lost the throne, the fourth was a hated usurper, the fifth was Osama bin Laden but with a better publicist, the sixth was mad and lost his throne, the seventh was a money obsessed genius (and was half Welsh, which probably accounts for his comparative success), and the eighth was a skirt-obsessed serial killer of his wives).

Charles meanwhile has only a 50/50 chance of producing a bad king, and even then one has to acknowledge that Charles I was a great collector of art and that his enemies proved to be some of the most tedious individuals ever to enter Parliament.

Just saw this thread and recalled Charlie was in my dream last night! Royal visit to Myanmar and I was supposed to be part of the entourage showing him around. I was told seconds before he arrived and couldn't get my tie done up properly

Cheers! I'll check with you next time something racist happens to see how concerned I should be.
What? It's just about fussy flunkies and nobody being able to be near the loo on the plane while he does his royal business. Where's the racism?

I'm not referring to the article Rutita1 posted but the one I posted.

There was that time he tried to land a No.32(TR) Squadron BAe 146 in the Hebrides.

I was stationed at Leuchars at the time and had the great pleasure of seeing the "flap" unfold as a recovery operation was cobbled together. How we laughed from the comfort of our Q shed.

Ah, gotcha. You said 'the' article rather than 'this' article, so I read you wrongly. I'm glad! :) (Not that I did, but that I was wrong.)

Human Rights violations aside, does Burma have enough absurd headquarters to justify a princely outing. These are exotic, but surely too intrinsically elegant for the full Right Charlie effect

He could go up to Nagaland along the Indian border. He'd be happy there.
