I'd not get too aerated about who's in cabinet positions until they're filled - the names the journalists kite fly are often totally wrong. There'll be plenty of opportunity for anger and despair when the announcements start rolling in.

I wrongly thought May would be gone within months of the last election. But she even limped on for another six months after losing the last vestige of authority.

My fear is that Johnson will limp on through to 2022.

My fear is that Johnson will limp on through to 2022.

I wonder just how long they can limp on? It could be a long time. we as a people tend to be accomodating to all sorts of high level incompetence, brexit being a case in point.

But something has got to give soon. May, in her own way, was a safe pair of hands. Boring, dull, and so on. Johnson is different prospect. Can he be a safe pair of hands?

I don't know, I genuinely have no idea how any of this will play out. But there has got to be a pretty good chance of this going really badly for the conservatives. That's what I hope. I don't want any more muddling through. I want the conservative party to destroy itself for a generation.
