Mentioned over on the other thread, but Na'amod are calling for a protest on Sunday:

Victoria Embankment Gardens, 3.30 on the 19th.
I'm joining this one, so let me know if you're going as I'm heading on my own. I'd be surprised if there weren't people from my synagogue there but at the same time sadly I don't feel able to post asking about it on our synagogue fb group as I just don't know if it might rub some people (a minority) the wrong way, even though Jewish organised

Where is The Hyde park March going? It could still be huge

I can't see any info about it now. Seems it has been dropped for local activities instead.

There is another National March planned in London next Saturday, 25 November.

I won't be in London then, but my da will, so feel free to PM if you'd like to try and meet Hitmouse Senior, I suppose?

Vigil tonight in Tavistock calling for a ceasefire. 40-odd people turned up in the pouring rain at short notice. Not a bad turnout. Same again next Friday at 4pm Bedford Square.
I think these rallies are good but I also think they should be calling for the end of Hamas too. Palestinians cannot do that as they are fearing for their lives, if not from Israel attacks, but attacks from Hamas. At least in the UK we can safely protest the end of Hamas and to call for a ceasefire.

These vigils/rallies give the participants a sense of solidarity and not much else. If there were enough of them they might just influence our government, who in turn might influence Israel, in conjunction with other countries. Hamas are finished anyway. If we call for the end of Hamas as well, that will be interpreted as saying "eradicate Hamas and then have a ceasefire ". So ceasefire it is.

That makes sense. I don't understand why the UK and US are backing Israel. We should just be calling for a ceasefire. There are lots of innocent people on both sides that need support, I don't understand why we pick a side.

There's a regularly updated list on the PSC website worth checking if anyone is interested
Cheers - I think PSC national refuse to acknowledge Manchester events now cos of the falling out I mentioned on another thread. Which is... I can see national's point, but also seems a bit petty.
Samidoun also have an absolutely huge international listing which is well worth a look to get an idea of the full scale of this movement:

I mean, fwiw I think it is good to be critical of Hamas, would defend the right of anyone to raise anti-Hamas slogans in these protests and so on, but it's not exactly like there's a Hamas embassy or loads of Hamas-owned arms companies to protest outside, and I think Sunak and Starmer don't really need to have their hands forced by a protest movement before they'll criticise Hamas.

The UK is backing in part historically because we 'gave' them Israel and in part politically because they can cause a Labour rift by forcing the Labour leadership to take the same line or else be buried under screams of antisemitism from the right wing press.

The US I suspect because of the power of Christian Nationalists from whom Israel is essential in the return of Christ, as long as all the Israelis convert, and also because of the 'only non Muslim country in the Middle East' thing.

I’m going in the Camden March. Anyone else? Be good to say hello
im going to go to lewisham...what i like about the camden one is it nominally targets Starmer, though he's almost certainly not going to be in the office...it reminded me how Blair literally couldn't make a public appearance, likely still cant, because people would turn up to hector him for being a war butcher. it would be nice to see starmer follow in his footsteps and likewise be hounded

You should listen to Biden as to why the US supports Israel - he's very explicit about it - because its a proxy military base for the US "to protect our interests in the region"
"ISrael is the single greatest strength America has in the middle east " etc

and the UK supports the US becasue thats the special lapdog relationship

It has been nice hearing the old Seven Nation Army chant adapted to "Kier Starmer's a wasteman" for these changed times. The BMA also do it as "full pay restoration".

Is this the fourth or fifth time this video's been posted?

Tbh the Labour party rather painted themselves into a corner by the weaponisation of a-s against corbyn, for them to show solidarity with or indeed simple humanity for the Palestinians would risk them being viewed as insincere hypocrites after the way saying the slightest thing against the zionist entity has been used as grounds to discipline
