Israeli forces storm Gaza aid ship, and beat people on board. Fatalities reported.

Kinnell, the jpost is really taking it's hasbara/state propaganda duties seriously at the mo! :D

Quite. That's the most incredible piece of propagandist bullshit i've read in quite some time. The more you read the more absurd it gets :D

In fact it's so bad it actually gets lazy:

Each squad of the “mercenaries” was equipped with a Motorola communication device, the IDF said, so they could pass information to one another.

Errr....mobile phones? That you apparently scrambled?

Simply amazing. If there was a bullshit award ceremony they'd be hot favorites for a prize :D

Also an Israeli spokesperson has said (on Aljazeera) that the aid from the previous ships has not gone to Gaza because Hamas won't allow its entry. I don't know if this is a propaganda interpretation or objectively true.

Even if HAMAS did allow it through, the rate at which it would be allowed, by the state of Israel, to filter into Gaza, would make the presence of the aid pretty meaningless. 10,000 tonnes would take forever to filter through one or more (IDF-manned, btw!) border crossings (even if there were an available fleet of 44-tonner artics to hand) , even if it were all allowed through, and not arbitrarily turned back by some two-striper with a bad attitude, or arbitrarily destroyed.

JC3 has thought about what he is saying, and he has asked leading questions throughout the thread, most of them are a complete distraction to the issue at hand - the end of the illegal blockade of Gaza.

Hence my many reiterations on this thread of the fact that all he's doing is dissembling.

VP I don't think you will get a reply form JC3 any time soon. He has had a mini-flounce and put 'Holiday' on his tag line. He posted something implying that he was feeling out-numbered on this thread.

My heart bleeds for his poor bruised ego! ;)
Perhaps if he spent more time informing himself, and a little less attempting (and failing) to be iconoclastic.....
Nah, ain't gonna happen, is it? :D

Allow me to state the obvious. It is not Israel's right to exist which is the issue. It is not Israel's right to exist in peace and security which is the issue.
It is Palestine's right to exist as a state, and exist in peace and security, which is the issue.

This long blockade is one key part of the issue. Palestinians cannot exist in peace and security without an economy, without trade, without jobs, without education, without rebuilding, without imports, without markets, without freedom of movement.

Mainly, people here are focused on how Israel's regime behaves towards the potential Palestinian state and its people, and how Israel's regime attempts to achieve peace and security for Israel. This focus is mainly on how it exists, notwhilst destroying securit that it exists.

We have discussed all these things many times - all threads are archived and there seems little point (from my perspective) in going over old ground, however if you find it useful, then a new thread might be the best way forward.

Who the fuck are you to regulate what people want to discuss ?

I've been talking to my dad (ex-naval and on the gentile side of the family) via e-mail about this over the last few days, and his response to the "communication device" issue?
"Every berk knows that merchant ships bigger than a bloody dinghy often use 'walkie-talkies' for crew communications. They have done since the 1970s. It's cheap and effective".

Conrad Black's forced sale doesn't appear to have improved anything :(
You knew what you were getting from Black's papers, though: Standard "Israel right or wrong" pro-Zionist bullshit with a quasi-intellectual gloss.
Indeed, it's now apprently allied to Murdoch's Wall Street Journal - right-of-sensible, Fux News with semicolons...
And as we're all too aware, Murdoch goes where the power is, regardless of inconveniences like truth and decency.

Did you miss ^^^^ or other parts of his/her rant ?

I think you'll find my communication with you was closer to being a dialectic, whilst your communication was closer to being a rant.

Welcome to urban75, cursed newbie ;)
Have a hobnob and don't lend dubversion a fiver.

Indeed, and one should of course also add that Hamas did not "refuse the aid carried by the flotilla" - 8,000 tonnes of it (of 10,000) are still banned and were not part of the transfer.

Does anyone know what happened to all the aid confiscated by Israel which they did not allow through over the last few years?

I suspect some is warehoused. Only evidence is the bizarre story about truckloads of second-hand clothes being let through after long delay and Gazans' comment: "they niff now!"

Let me see...

Here's a warehouse where stuff waits, burning down: http://www.maannews.net/eng/ViewDetails.aspx?ID=283295

And this was it - 4 April: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/8602955.stm - implies the stuff's been in storage since 2007.

Thankyou for the clarification.

Warehoused, perishables destroyed under hygiene regs.
A mate reckons that some of the meds, tools, building supplies and farming equipment gets auctioned off to Israeli companies at "competitive" prices and that the state pockets the money, but I've been unable to find any confirmation of this.

Definitely worth a read: Henning Mankel's flotilla raid diary

Wednesday 2 June, afternoon

I listen to the blackbird. A song for those who died.

Now it is still all left to do. So as not to lose sight of the goal, which is to lift the brutal blockade of Gaza. That will happen.

Beyond that goal, others are waiting. Demolishing a system of apartheid takes time. But not an eternity.

Just come back from the gaza demo, an islamist type twat started kicking off at someone on a hamburger stall and hurling racist and anti-semitic abuse simply because they had an england flag on the stall, calling them racists etc  I think there needs to be zero tolerance for that sort of shit, the rest of it was really good though, lots of interesting people there

some of them who needed to be sectioned from the sounds of it.

No fucking shit. That guy was a fucking cunt and that sort of shit is an absoute gift to the likes of the EDL and the zionists. Sorry if I sound like a twat and normally I'd say everyone has the right to say what they like but I think anyone who starts shouting "Allahu Akbar" or anything on those lines on these demos need to be kicked off the demo and asked to go home tbh.
