First tallies predict seat losses across the country

"James Reilly, Kathleen Lynch and Alex White are predicted to lose their seats after the first full tallies of the count.

Renua leader Lucinda Creighton and Fianna Fáil Minister Mary Hanafin are also in trouble based on the predictions

The exit polls had shown the coalition only getting the support of about one third of the electorate and major seat losses imminent."

Yeah we can delight at the shower piss we are flushing away but there's a torrent of shit on its way

Hanafin looks gone too the half a million pension she's taken in five years will be a small comfort

At times like this one can but take solace in smug schadenfreude.

Michael Noonan looks bang in trouble too. And Jimmy Deenihan. And best of all... Joan.
TDs in danger have escaped by the skin of their teeth before. Dick Spring in 1987 - saved after a recount by just four votes.

Like Joan now, Dick was Labour leader. . .

Many being replaced by FFs...

Splendid

Interesting that some were crowing about SF's percentage vote dropping, without any conjecture as to the possible reasons this happened.
I would imagine lots of PBP/AAA votes will transfer to SF once they drop out. Or indeed Sf transfers may get the AAA fella elected in Cork where Sf has two horses in the race - and their second one will likely fall before the AAA.

Shower piss and shit torrent! think you might be mixing your ablution metaphors there but fair play. :D

On my phone. Fighting the compulsion to drive to tip and just scream abuse at people randomly. Lowry got 50% of the vote in places.

I've met Lowry. I think it must have been just after he was publicly disgraced for the first time. Anyway, my Tipp friend thought he was great.

In fairness to Tipperary, they may mostly vote for some of the worst pricks in Irish politics, but they do also elect Seamus Healy of the Workers and Unemployed Action Group. It's basically Clonmel, a large industrial town, surrounded by a sea of idiocy.

“You’ll Always Be My Taoiseach” Ted Tells Adams

Some of the most popular politicians elected so far, are a corrupt tax evader, a defamer, and a pair of Healy Raes, plus a load of FFers who had their hands on wheel when we went over a fiscal cliff eight years ago.

We're going to have to lay off on the Trump jokes for a bit...

Much as I'm no shinners fan I have to say they have a legitimate gripe about Slab getting sent down the day of the election , when Michael fucking Lowrys being sent back to Leinster house . Definitely hard done by there .

What's so bad about the Healy-Raes?

Also I think Slab's the tout whose identity we've been wondering about all these years.

:)

Just

I've just noticed that there's an actual Anti-Austerity Alliance - People Before Profit candidate standing in Mayo! Some guy from Westport called Tom Doran. Probably the first time there's been a socialist on the ballot there since the heyday of the Workers Party in the 80s and possibly before?

I'm assuming he'll get a bit of a hiding, but fair play to him for standing.
He got 0.9% of first preferences, according to RTE. Fair play, though, like you said.

Lowry isn't convicted, yet.

And SF keep telling us the IRA Have gone away, so why would they care about a tax evader going down

The Healy Raes make Boss Hogg look positively sophisticated, and when their dad was propping up FF he brought a shopping list of local demands

Michael has been fiddling his expenses dismissed from a commitee due to conflict of interest and wants to make the drink driving limit more liberal
