I think that might be the final straw for me at the RailUK forums

I think the wider point bungs is making here is that under the old BR this kind of thing didn’t happen as fares were simpler so that LU staff would have no issue with them and that his being labelled a criminal is a direct consequence of privatisation and that full renationalisation is the only way forward. Well done the buggle.

Rather than the ticket inspectors and ticket machines, ignorant / incorrectly programmed as they are, who know nothing about tickets? And you insist you know better.

I realise it's tough to accept that you're a criminal but urban is a supportive community and we won't judge you - as you know, there are many self-confessed fare dodgers here and we welcome you into our ranks with open arms

I can only admire Bungle's long game here, he's kept his nose clean and his house seemingly in order for so long. I for one would never have seen behind his facade. Thats some Kim Philby level spycraft. But now he's come in from the cold.

Did you actually type that with a straight face? The "mistake", as you put it, was actually her not knowing how to do the job she was there to do. This isn't some obscure ticketing trick, this is BASIC TICKET VALIDITY. Even a junior member of staff on their first day should have know it was a valid ticket. The fact that you think that such a person should be just left to continue challenging pax with perfectly valid tickets, and the fact that you're trying to turn this into my fault, shows you up for the massive hypocrites that you are.

And this may be news to you but ticket gates don't "think", they are programmed. And it's obvious to me that you have very little experience with using them, because if you had you would have know that they reject valid tickets left, right and centre.

I am going to make one last attempt to engage sensibly with this. I’m not concerned about the ticketing issues (my knowledge died when APTIS was shunted into the great freight siding in the sky). My question is more about the human factors involved. The ticket barrier flagged a concern with your ticket and the member of staff let you proceed with your journey without charging you a further fare or issuing a penalty fare. How would you have liked the transaction to have unfolded differently?

Er not being told I didn't have a valid ticket when I obviously did would have been a good start..............
