Feeling proper ropey this morning, hot head, headache, aches in my upper body (shoulders, lats, arms) only + really sore arm. Wasn’t expecting this from 2nd jab tbh.

Without going through threads, has anyone else felt bad after 2nd jab?

Which jab?

Obviously everyone is different, but from the hundreds of thousands reporting on the zoe app, it's unusual to get such a strong reaction from a 2nd AZ jab.

Will the side effects be worse for the second dose?

Not all vaccines are the same. For the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine, side effects tend to be milder with the second dose. For the Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna vaccines, side effects tend to be stronger with the second dose. The type of side effects are the same and should still only last a day or two. They include:
  • Pain or discomfort in the arm where you had your injection
  • Feeling tired
  • Feeling feverish
  • Headaches

My wife had the 2nd AZ too and is absolutely fine. As I mentioned, I had a venesection (gave 450ml blood) y/day and I sometimes feel really tired with headache after that (I do it weekly) so maybe that has some contributory factor. Sucks whatever it is.

Yes - after Phizer no 2 , much the same but it soon passed away.

For me, it has been far less so far - maybe a very little bit of joint pain and usual pain at the injection site but barely noticeable and I was feeling a little bit cold but as my blood sugar has been running a little low these last few days, that could also account for it - I even took home a pie and chips from the really good chipper by the vaccination centre and that barely moved it! But nothing a pair of long johns couldn’t sort out. No headache scrappy sleep or anything else.

I’m now at the point where the I’ll effects had peaked first time and were beginning to lessen but for now, I’m feeling quite fine. :)

Second AZ yesterday, had to go to bed early because it made me tired and I felt like I'd been run over by a bus this morning - got up at about 11. Was ill for about 2 weeks last time and actually had to stop drinking alcohol, as even 1 single glass laid me out! I don't feel too bad now but definitely have brain fog and a headache.
El Jugs went to the same vacc site about a month ago and depsite it being so close to Broadwater farm, which is mostly BAME folk living, the queue was completely white people and not many people there. Yesterday, what a difference, mostly black and asian in the extremely long queue and an asian family begging security at the door too be let in to get a vacc (they were turned away). People obviously panicking about the Indian variant.

There's talk of hunger pangs flarimg up after vaccinations (not that I remember that from the first time)

But on Saturday, my plan is to have my first cafe breakfast since before Xmas

It'll be post-lie-in late, ;) but I'll still have plenty of time to chill (with extra coffee?) before I need to get the bus up to the vaccination station.

And the city bus-station is only round the corner from the cafe, too :)

(I'll be saving BEER until after being vaccinated -- there's a far-from-bad pub round the corner from The Jab Depot :D ;) :)  )

I was absolutely ravenous for a couple of days after my first jab, could not do anything to feel full and I absolutely stuffed my face - was like taking corticosteroids. OH was the opposite and was right off his food after the first, which is most unlike him. He was ok after his second.

That's interesting - I couldn't stop eating yesterday. I slept for 11 hours last night and woke up stiff and achy all over again. By far the weirdest post jab side effect I seem to have got (from the first one) was the inability to tolerate any alcohol. Just gonna check in with my friend now, she was hospitalised after the first jab, neither of us got on with it.

I wonder if it's not really a good idea to be having medical interventions within a few days of the jab. I had a biopsy yesterday which turned out to be a bit traumatic and then felt dreadful for the rest of the day (as in 'ill' rather than direct pain from the biopsy). I'd had the jab on Monday (AZ2) and wondered if there was some kind of interaction going on. I didn't have much of a reaction to the jab, but must be still having some reaction as my arm's still a bit sore.

Needless to say I'm not suggesting people should be cancelling either the jab or medical treatment, or for that matter rebooking and moving things around. I'd have thought that in just about any circumstances it's best to get the jab ASAP.

I had my second jab today. Three and a half weeks after the first. I dunno if that was a bit quick, but they didn't stop me. :hmm: The system wouldn't let me book my second until three weeks had passed so I'm assuming it's alright. Glad to be done.

My arm's a bit sore, maybe more sore than the first time. The cold achy throbbing feeling you get after the immediate injection has worn off though.

My second jab is at 15.20 tomorrow 11 weeks to the day after I had the first one, Mrs Q had her first one 2 weeks after mine with her second one a week today.
SiL (who's 38) is booked for his first one next week though I have forgotten the actual day. The government website is now down to people who have turned 34 by 1 July, Eldest Q will turn 33 on the 30th June so the very next drop in age probably by the weekend at this rate will catch her.
This 5G upgrade is bollocks though there is a 5G mast not far from us and even standing by the frigging thing I couldn't pick up a signal, I shall have to complain about this tomorrow.
