My second jab is a mere 4hrs away, I predicted yesterday on this very thread that by this weekend my not quite 33 year old Eldest offspring could be eligible and lo it was on the news this am that they will start calling in 32 yrs up.
Mrs Q who is family vaccine co-ordinator has promptly texted Eldest to tell her but Eldest apparently is already on the case

I've been under the impression that I'd get a letter/text/email or something to summon me for my 2nd AZ jab. As it's been almost 12 weeks since I had the 1st vaccination, on a whim, I wondered if I could just book the damn appointment myself and found to, my surprise, that I could!

Booked for this evening so that I can suffer the side-effects in my own time instead of having to take a half-day off work like last time...

My second (Oxford/AstraZeneca) was at 16:40 the Saturday afternoon just gone :) :)

Seven hours later, I appear to have miniscule amount of arm-pain, and (so far!!) a zero level of side-effects :)

Very similar to the first one really, back on March 11th :)

I can also report that the beer in the nearby pub afterwards was excellent, and in prime condition .... as Welsh beers go, Rhymney Export (5.3%) is up there with the best .... :D

* Please wait your AZ-5G connection is upgrading *

- Jabs away, second AZ dose all done, 2 weeks earlier than my original appointment, and a gap of 9 weeks between the two. :)

I have to say I am most impressed with my GP surgery, which is a hub servicing 4 other surgeries too, I turned-up 10 minutes early, straight in, and back out within 2-3 minutes.

There was 4 jabbers this time, up one, 3 in nurses uniforms & I assume the fourth is a GP, apparently they have done over 45,000 jabs so far, and currently operating 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.

I've been back about an hour after my second AZ dose, a couple of weeks earlier than originally planned.. The vaccination centre was very busy this morning and we had to queue outside for about 15 minutes.

I had mild hangover symptoms and tiredness last time lasting about a day or so. I'll have to wait to see what happens this time. :hmm:

Feeling proper ropey this morning, hot head, headache, aches in my upper body (shoulders, lats, arms) only + really sore arm. Wasn’t expecting this from 2nd jab tbh.

Without going through threads, has anyone else felt bad after 2nd jab?
I had pretty full on reactions to both doses of AZ. First one lasted about 48 hours then felt fine (if a bit drained). Second one lasted about 24 hours for the intense effects, milder effects lingered for another week. Both times it was like having flu. Wasn’t expecting it for the second dose.

Does anyone know if you can use the national booking website to book your second jab if your first jab was done through your GP?

I have a text invite for my second jab, but the only available slots are for tomorrow (I can't go as I have work) & the text says the slot will be re-allocated if I don't book it.

Going to just have to hope I get another text at some point - or maybe the link will work later in the week for a different day.

Has only been just 8 weeks since the first, so that's OK I think - loads of people anxious for a first shot still...

I strongly suspect there'll be some more pro-active way** of altering your appointment??
And combining awareness of 'It's OK to drink' with continuing to in a temporat society

**I know not how, myself, but do investigate, and keep a keen eye on expert Urban advice as well!

Can you book one on the NHS website?

No, it looks like I would need to ask my GP.

(There was a list of reasons for not making the booking, so at least they are collecting data on why people aren't attending - & declining the booking means it could be offered to someone else, I guess).
Oh, that's annoying. Good luck in getting another date soon.

I was lucky with my first one as I got a Friday end of day slot - there was a long queue outside the centre, so they seem good at using up leftover jabs.

A guy at work has had 4 invites for his first so far! (He still isn't sure about getting it) so I think they do just invite you again.
