Glastonbury 2008

Yeh, 2005 doesn't really count as a mudbath because as /\ /\ /\ the Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday were all beautiful. And I'm staking far too much of my life  on conditions returning to 'max loveliness' this year. The odds are on my side though, I'd have thought.

The widespread popularity of Neil Diamond really does mystify me
I can't stand him -- I'm so not a fan of schmaltzy, cheesy crooners -- but from comments on here and efests there's a sizeable number who rate him loads.

Please explain!!!

Bit of a site re-org this year, rumour has it.

Things being considered:

- LV gone (confirmed). Replaced with "No Man's Land". Similar ethos, but no single operator.
- 'Original' Tipi village moved (possibly to Stone Circle field)
- Trash City to take the old Tipi spot, and extend the late night area.
- New "Strummerville" stage, near the the memorial stone.
- Circus Big Top moved to previous Trash City site.
- Family Camping moved (from Cockmill meadow, I assume, not the 'new' one in Woodsies).

I've heard about most of this, but not the 'Family Camping to move' rumour -- I wonder where they'll move it to?

I wonder if the Urbanite called 'strummerville' can help us with word on that new stage ...

I think those new Trash City and No Mans Land arrangements sound ace, as has already been said the Lost Vagueness area had become very stale and tired. Needed a good shakeup :)

Why not Lisa?? :(

So many old schoolers dropping out ... :(

Not sure Will. Don't think i've got the energy to face another wet one. I know you reckon it will be nice weather this year and i'll probably kick myself if it is though...

I'm just not that excited about it this year. Can't work out why

It's not even the lineup as that never bothers me anyway...

Maybe i'm just annoyed that last year's Glastonbury well and truly killed my Docs after i managed to resurrect them from nearly being killed in 2005 :(

I'll be at plenty of other festies this summer though Will

Suggestion : If you hate Glastonbury so much, why not think about buggering off out of this thread? Your only purpose of being here is to snipe and be ultra negative about a festival you plainly hate.

Any valid criticisms there are, and there are a good few including some that I myself have spelt out at times, will come much better from someone who isn't determined to grotesquely exaggerate everything perceived to be bad about Glastonbury, sneer at everything about Glastonbury, paint everything whatsoever about Glastonbury in a 100% negative light, and who is incapable of posting anything positive about the bloody thing at all.

You're not even fucking going, you miserable wanker, so what odds is the presence or absence of Neil Diamond (who I hate, btw) to you?

Actually, are you ever positive about anything at all, you sneering little shit?

Blimey!! A full on roasting from the Glastonbury One. :D

I just wanna know if the crowds are going to do the full dance and movements to Neil Diamond's "Hands"?:)

Will I still have an excuse to dress up in something totally inappropriate for dancing in a field, is what I want to know.

Look at your Sunday pics from 2005 ed. And your Wednesday and Thursday ones.

Of course it was pretty bad on Friday, wouldn't deny it, and scarcely better on Sat, but it only rained once, it did dry up eventually, and by Sunday it was as lovely again as it had been before the deluge ...

2007 was much much worse ...

I should perhaps have said, not a full or permanent mudbath in 2005 ....

It's to be expected if you are critical of Glastonbury.

No -- it's to be expected if you post like a bigotted arse about it, and show no capability of seeing anything positive in it whatsoever.

Can you not see that my criticisms of the fest, and I have plenty actually, carry a bit more credibility than yours? The way you post just looks embittered and hysterical. Not to mention laden with inaccuracies and exaggerations right left and centre, but accuracy is far less important to you I guess than sticking the boot in. Relentlessly.

Your bile is fucking tedious and I think you need to grow up.

Will be good to see you at those, but I reckon you'll end up coming to Pilton anyway!

After all there are was and ways as you know ;)

WoW, you're more than capable of producing enough hysterical bile.

My complaints are:

1. It's a sell out
2. It's too muddy
3. It's badly organised
4. It's too expensive
5. It's not as good as it used to be
6. Relentless over exposure in the media ruins it.

Clearly you'd like this thread to be reserved for Glasto praise, unless it is a story that has been triple checked and vetted by your good self.

The sun no longer shines on Glastonbury and never will untill the fence is down and the gate fee a memory.

It a curse I tell thee. ;)

On 2005 - Thursday overnight into Friday was shite, on kicking out day Monday we were in shorts, sunnies and had to keep rubbing grit and dust from our eyes it was so dry.

Last year was a fucking trial.

There was a very interesting thread over on efests a wee while back where alot of gossip about the LV vs ME dust up last year. WoW posted some of it here I think.... Roy did not come out of it smelling of roses.

I read that on efests too, sounded quite pathetic really. Cutting their own noses off.
