Glastonbury 2005

well that's R**for you - never happy unless he's having a row with someone.

rumour has it the recent LV lost the Outdoor Stage is that he was just being a dick about it....

That Spiegeltent was at WOMAD the one and only year since 1997 that I wasn't there (2001). Tort, who was there that year, speaks very highly of it.

Good to know it's invading us from Germany once again. AFAIK it hasn't been in the country for four years .....looking forward tio checking it out!

And so much more interesting :D than my boring old post about Glastos past and present ;)

I hereby confirm that the "Crystal Palace" Spiegeltent is indeed the Mutts Nuts. A bit hot mind, but it did have it's own bar at WOMAD :D

The version I heard, there were all sorts of rules and regs related ructions after 2003 ... not inconsistent with the above, though.

Do you know if LV will still have that GaiaDome arrangement??

Or if the Roots tent will be in the LV area area or elsewhere??

heres an article from the mirror:

Corporate sponsors wine and dine their clients; the backstage hospitality area is like Ladies' Day at Ascot.

I've not read other people's comments yet, but my penny's worth.

I was in backstage hospitality last year, as I hope to be this year. I still have to pay for my ticket, which costs a lot more than the standard ticket.
If me in my hunter wellies & 10 year kagule that's 6 or 7 sizes too big for me, gets me into Ascot great.

The toilets were appalling on the Friday backstage. Much better in outside. Like to see that at Ascot. :(

I spent plenty of time in other areas too, which were great. But I do love the shortcut to the stages backstage gives you, as well as the late night bar which played Stone Roses everynight - which is enough to keep me happy (easily pleased) :D

my experiences of the main backstage area - which are many - suggest A LOT (but not all) coked up braying hoorays, lots of people who never actually leave their compound, people in Winnebagos playing Playstation, marketing twats and promotional cunts, people in full 'lovely' make-up on Sunday night, people desperately trying to catch the attention of Liam/Noel/Robbie etc, a lack of that shitey white furniture and situations where in a group of 30 people, 30 people are talking.

the shortcuts - especially the little one over the bridge into the market - are great. there is no other reason to be there

I had a backstage pass in 1995 and it was rubbish  It was just full of grumpy journalists and photographers running around sweating. The short cut was the only thing I used it for. Apparently it was the year 'robbie williams' went off the rails, but I didnt see him. I did get jarvis Cockers autograph and I also trod on Noel Gallaghers hand (and ran away). But they were my only celeb spots, although in 2002 my mate swears Kate Moss walked past, ut I missed her.

I hate the idea of exclusive backstage areas. id rather sit in the stone circle :)

Top Glasto attraction -- HAYSEED DIXIE!!!

Thanks to Line Dancing Rudeboy (cheers matey for the CD loan!), I'm now listening to Hayseed Dixie :D

They're on the Avalon Stage at some point ... :)

just had one such chap (but northern not braying), say "I never go to Glastonbury, hate it, its full of fucking hippies"

no love lost eh? ;)

for the record, I do venture out, preferably cider bus, real ale tent or the homeopathy tent int green fields if the hay fever is playing up

On the backstage thing, I can't help but wonder how it could be any better than what's, y'now, forestage.

I was lucky enough to get hospitality at V last year, which was worth it 'cos the festival itself is, well, piss. There was better - and free! - grub and booze, and we threw inflatable chairs at people off EastEnders :D . Unless they're dishing out flaggons of Burrow Hill backstage at Glastonbury, then the only tangible benefit is the free ticket.

*sudden realisation of benefits*

Its one of those great realisations in life (well it was for me anyway), that the VIP /backstage area in any club, or venue, will always be full of c*nts and will always be more shit than anywhere else.

Make most of the short cut and leave the rest of them to spend their entire festival attempting to talk to some gakked up has been. Gosh that must be fun! :)

the nearer it gets, and the more the scale of what we're up against doing PROD in such a big venue, the more damned SERIOUS we're getting!!

we're going to rock the festival and you will all be our bitches
