F1 2023

Max Verstappen sensationally threatens to quit F1

[Petulant little cunt, fuck off then you wouldn't be missed by many that for sure]

Formula one world champion and current Drivers Championship leader Max Verstappen has incredibly threatened to walk away from the sport shortly after putting his Red Bull car on pole for the Australian Grand Prix. Verstappen, who is the back-to-back champion of the sport, has raised concerns over his long-term future in the hot seat despite his on-track dominance continuing in the beginning of the 2023 season. The Dutchman claimed Red Bull’s third consecutive pole position of the season after a tough qualifying session that saw teammate Sergio Perez crash out in Q3, leaving the Mexican at the back of the grid for tomorrow’s race.

Amid potential changes pushed by current Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali, the increased introduction of the new sprint race format could replace practice events that bode no points on offer for drivers or teams. The sprint format introduced sees a half-hour mini race that will decide the grid order for the Grand Prix, with the sprint’s starting order decided by qualifying which replaces an extra practice session.

Talking about the possible changes, Verstappen said: “I hope there won’t be too many changes, otherwise I won’t be around for too long. I am not a fan of it at all. When we do all that kind of stuff, the weekend becomes very intense and we already do a lot of races. But it is not the right way to go about it. I understand they want to make every day at the track exciting but they should reduce the weekend, and only race on Saturday and Sunday and make those two days exciting. We are heading into seasons where we could have 24 or 25 races and if you then start adding more it is not worth it for me. I will not enjoy that.”

While one good qualifying doesn't make a great F1 car, its good to see Mercedes starting 2nd and 3rd. Now I have a message for the Mercedes team (who I know read all my post here). For fucks sake, split George and Lewis's strategies, lets see one of the Mercedes car at the front for at least part of the race. With 4 DRS zones it is going to be hard to keep the Red Bull behind but please let me have a little hope for some of the race.

Pit lane start for Bottas and Perez in Australian GP

Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez will both start today’s Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix from the pit lane. The pair were set to line up on the back row of the grid in Albert Park after a difficult qualifying session on Saturday. Brake problems blighted Perez and saw him park his Red Bull in the gravel at Turn 3 after suffering front locking early in Qualifying 1.

Bottas meanwhile struggle for pace and was left scratching his head after logging the slowest lap of the session (Perez failed to set a time). However, neither will line up on the grid after changes to their respective cars following qualifying. Red Bull has fit a third Energy Store and Controlled Electronics as well as making suspension changes to his RB19. As the changes were made under parc ferme conditions, Perez will line up in the pit lane as a result.

The same is true for Bottas, however Alfa Romeo Sauber only made changes to the car’s set-up. However, as the car was in parc ferme conditions, the rules stipulate that he too must start from the lane. As a result, only 18 cars will line up for the race, with Max Verstappen on pole with George Russell alongside him on the front row.
