F1 2019

Good morning all, Nico who has been talking on the German TV channel RTL and claiming that "an insider" at Mercedes has told him that Ocon will be taking Bottas's places at Mercedes next season, not sure how much weight to put to that but for sure Nico has friends inside the team.

I heard some general chat on Sky mentioning Toto saying that "for sure Ocon would be in F1 next year". Mercedes or Renault were the teams mentioned.

ETA: I hope Botty keeps his seat.

Also ETA: Fuck NIco Who?

From what I have been reading Ocon would move to Renault next season, but apparently there was an agreement for that last year, but Renault pulled out when they signed Danny Ric. I think Renault are worried that Ocon will remain a Mercedes driver even if he races for them and that Mercedes would take him back, so why should Renault give him a drive and train him for Mercedes.

I'm sure Bottas would get a seat somewhere if Mercedes drop him, I'm still interested to know what his link to Williams is?

If dropped would Bottas really want to take Kubica's seat at Williams :hmm: a massive backward step for him
Clare would have to crack open the piggy bank. I could see a team like Haas (mid table, but access to money) grabbing Botty to replace either of their troublesome drivers. If Botty were the top dog in a Ferrari-engined car, he might enjoy the change.

He would also fit in well at Red Bull?????????

If Max were lured away, he'd be a good number one at RB. If RB were to drop Gasly, Botty might shy away from jumping in as clear number two to Max. He's already been second fiddle at Mercedes.

Dunno. It's all silly-season chat.

:)

Dear Mr Brundle,

Please stop trying to interview celebs who know nothing about F1, and whom we don't even recognise. It's not good telly.

Ta everso.

Yours,

The entire Sky audience.

I can't watch it live :( so signing off for the afternoon RaceFam.

Will check back in later.

Any idea whether it better to hang on for the C4 highlights or does Sky have a replay option?

NOW TV shows paddock chat from 4 and I'm guessing that's the same as SKY so they'll be doing that till at least 5 and then you may as well wait for the C4 highlights I guess?
