Some changes we may see in Spain
Well it seem that it may not just be big changes to the Red Bull car we see this weekend. As well as what we are told will be a new chassis for the Red Bull, it appears that Renault will be bringing some "significant updates" to the race as well. It also seems that Mercedes and Ferrari will have changes to their car, Ferrari sent both their cars back to Maranello for the first time this season and I'm sure it isn't just for a new coat of paint. As for Mercedes it seems they have also been working hard and the cars that will race in Spain will be much lighter*, it is also rumored that they have shortened the wheel-base which could help with the tyres, a new nose and barge-boards.
*All F1 cars have to be of a minimum weight, but to get to that weight most if not all use ballast, being able to move and place that ballast into the optimum areas of the car is key for stability.
Alonso tells McLaren/Honda sort it out or I'm off
Fernando Alonso has been very vocal in his criticism of the McLaren MCL32, particularly the underpowered and unreliable Honda engine. Speaking to reporters he has said the following "My intention and my first priority is to race here, not only to race, I want to win. So now that I have not any more obligations with McLaren, I am happy with the team but we're not winning. In September or October, if we're in a position where I see a possibility to win in 2018, I will be more than happy to stay with the team. If it's not the case, I would be more than happy to talk to anyone. I will have to think a little bit, after the summer, because now is quite a busy period, and now plus the Indy 500, it will not be the time to think any further. But yeah, around September, October, I need to consider what I will do next year. If it's time to find other challenges outside Formula 1 or if Formula 1 will be an opportunity to win the championship which is my main goal. Yeah, very open to anything". Asked if he wants to remain in F1 his response was "I think with this year's cars and the 2017 regulations, the cars are good to drive. I think Formula 1 is back in a way. We see this real power, efficiency, corner speed, things which we were missing in the last couple of years. The cars they look nice from the outside, with the big tyres and everything. I like this Formula 1".
Stirling Moss back home after 5 months in hospital
The 87-year-old has now returned home after spending 134 days in a Singapore hospital. A statement on his website reads "He still has a substantial amount of recovery to undertake but says that he has determination and a great pit crew, he and Lady Moss are enormously grateful to the medical staff, both here and abroad, who worked so tirelessly to make all this possible. They also want to thank, from the bottom of their hearts, all the family, friends and fans for their love and support. It has been overwhelming and given them a lot of strength, smiles and hope. For now, they are looking forward to just lying back on their pillows in their bedroom and watching the Spanish Grand Prix".
Get well soon Stirling, I'm sure all F1 fans are hoping you make a full recovery
