F1 2016

I think the big gamble tomorrow is when and how many safety cars, Mercedes will have to stop many laps before the red bull so could well come out into traffic

oh sick this looks like it could be a decent race

lol @ max and the lizard and blatant cultureism from the team

It';s certainly a race for all the strategy folks, running their clever scenarios, to earn their pay.

Greetings, everyone.

I see Vettel's profited from his last place start and taken some engine spares while he's at it.

Good morning all :)
But that would ruin the lap for people who are nowhere near the yellow flags.
Yes as would a red flag, as that stops the session and drivers nowhere near the flags would have their times deleted. The conversation was about how to stop drivers speeding past a danger while not stopping the clock during qualifying at a point that would mean drivers wouldn't have time to do an out-lap and qualifying lap (so the clock just runs down and the session ends).

It could be tweaked that any driver not having passed the flags had their time deleted (at the time the commentators were pointing out that after Nico's actions a couple of races ago, Charlie Whiting said they would deal with double waved yellows as a red flag). As was made clear by Limejuice they are able to delete the time of a driver who puts all 4 wheels off the track at some corners so you'd think they could do something "definitive" where driver safety is involved :)

They need to make rules where safety is concerned objective rather than subjective, that is the real point under discussion.

Edit to add some context, it must be remembered that both Force India cars were faster after the accident and both their cars had to pass the accident, so had to pass double waved yellows yet were able to improve their times, that is why the subject came up again and Williams were so pissed off.

Interesting - Paddy Lowe says the pole side is grippier. Third might be a better place to start than second.

Or perhaps he's whistling in the dark.

Hope above expectation from Paddy I think, it would be great to see Lewis get in front off the grid
