F1 2016

I'm going to watch the rest of qualifying from my bed. so I'll catch you tomorrow for the race :)

Does anyone know what's happened to Damon Hill on Sky's coverage? I don't think he's shown up at all yet this season has he?

Today's qualifying for those who missed it and want to see what happened, click on "proceed to video" and you'll get a pop-up then click on the "X" to close the advert and off you go :)

No need to log-in or register, if you get that screen it is an advert.

I'm looking forward to this.

A Mercedes first and last on the grid. Red Bull up in the mix with Ricciardo in the front row. A pair of Ferraris right behind. A track that allows overtaking. Lots of tyres available for strategy types to puzzle over.

Shoe-in for Rosberg? I hope this race there's a change to the usual results. That said, if Hammy's car stays in one piece I wouldn't be surprised to see him rescue a few points for his day's work.

According to Charlie Whiting the guy who parked his pick-up truck on the side of the tract yesterday "This man had been brought in specially to drive the pick-up that was cleaning the track, ironically a new measure this year meant to improve safety by cleaning the track better, and it was used to very good effect. The driver lacked experience and won't do it again, but it must be emphasised this is not a normal run-off area and the risk was low. Unacceptable nonetheless."

I bet he got a massive bollocking :)

A lot of the marshals are volunteers from around the world. The thing is, the volunteers tend to be the racing nuts who know the rules best.

If you drag in someone from the dole queue to drive the pick-up truck, they may be a great driver but clueless about the bigger picture.

It's like driving around an airport air-side. Depending on the the lines painted on the concrete, the rules change dramatically.
